What are the precautions for leech farming? These points cannot be ignored
The leech is a fairly common medicinal material. In the past, there were often many leeches in rural rice paddies. After entering the fields, leeches would often crawl onto your legs to suck blood, and they could not be pulled off, which was very frightening. However, because pesticides are now sprayed on farmland, causing serious pollution, many leeches have basically died out. But since the medicinal value of leeches is very high, leeches have become accepted by everyone as a form of pond farming. So let us now look at the precautions for leech farming.

1. Farming methods
The main leech farming methods are intensive farming and extensive farming. In extensive farming, existing land resources are mainly used for raising them. The first thing to pursue is the selection of the farming site: choose uncontaminated fields, streams, rivers, and so on for farming. Next, consider the water temperature, water level, and plankton of the farming site, and also keep away from planting areas that require large amounts of pesticide spraying. For intensive farming, what needs attention is that the farming density should be reasonable, and some duckweed or aquatic plants should be planted in the farming site. This can not only purify the water quality, but also provide part of the food needed by the leeches.
2. Water quality management
Leeches actually do not have many requirements for water quality, because they were originally a wild animal, so their vitality is extremely tenacious. It is said that after being cut into several sections, they can still continue to survive. For extensive leech farming, what we mainly need to pay attention to is the impact of pollution in the surrounding environment on the farming site, and that only low-toxicity pesticides can be used in the farming site to prevent and control pests and diseases. The intensive farming model mainly requires reasonable water changes, usually once every 12 to 15 days or so, and keeping the water transparency of the farming site at about 20 percent.
3. Daily management
After each feeding, the food residue in the farming site needs to be removed in a timely manner to avoid the food becoming foul and causing water pollution. At the same time, in ordinary management, appropriately adjust the water level of the farming site according to changes in season and temperature, which is more conducive to the growth of leeches. Next, the leech feces and so on need to be removed from time to time, otherwise after fermentation and decay they will produce large amounts of ammonia and other toxic gases, ultimately causing the leeches to die from poisoning.
4. Preventing escape
The leech is a creature that especially loves to escape. Although it is very easy to raise, it is not particularly easy to manage. Therefore, when farming, what we must pay attention to is preventing the leeches from escaping. So before farming, escape-prevention equipment needs to be laid out in the farming site, and an escape-prevention wall should be built in the farming site, with its surface made relatively rough, which can achieve a very good anti-escape effect.
5. Sales channels
Since you are farming leeches, it is certainly to make money, and whether you can make money is related to many factors. At present, the market price of leeches is not low, and demand is also large, but without your own sales channels, it is still very difficult to sell the leeches. Even if they are sold, you will not make much money. Therefore, when farming, you need to establish good relationships in all aspects and build your own sales channels, so you will not need to worry about being unable to sell them.
