We began breeding new sweet carambola varieties in the late 1980s. From 1986 to 1994, we introduced sweet carambola individual plants and scions from home and abroad. In 1992, among grafted seedlings from introduced branches, we found one individual plant (numbered 94-3) whose fruit shape and quality were markedly different from the original variety Malaysia B17. From 1993 to 1995, continuous observation and high-graft top-working cultivation trials showed that this individual plant's genetic traits were stable. New extremely late-ripening peach variety Qiuhong Wanmi has arrived
China has few extremely late-ripening peach varieties. Existing varieties such as Zhonghua Shengtao and Zhonghua Shoutao have poor cold resistance, resulting in a relatively small market supply in late October. An excellent strain, 'Yuhong Wanmi', was selected from the local excellent peach resource strain 'Qiumi' in Fengrun District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
