The camphor tree is an evergreen tree, relatively common in the warm, humid hilly mountains of southern China and often used as a shade and landscaping tree. It has an upright form, an open crown and dense branches and leaves, keeping its verdant appearance all year round and standing out clearly from a distance. In many villages and courtyards, people like to plant it in front of and behind their houses, where it casts a patch of shade in summer.

In terms of habits, the camphor tree prefers a warm, humid climate. It likes light and also tolerates a little shade. Its soil requirements are not especially strict, but it grows better in deep, loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Its root system is fairly well developed, and once established it is relatively easy to manage, with good adaptability to its environment, so it is often cultivated as a native landscaping tree.

In terms of application value, the camphor tree is mainly used for courtyard landscaping and roadside shade. Its dense crown can lower temperature and raise humidity, helping to some extent to improve the microclimate of a living environment. Some production areas also use its wood locally to make everyday utensils. For households that love greenery, planting one in the yard provides both something to look at and somewhere to cool off.

When planting and caring for it, young seedlings should be given appropriate shade, and the soil should be kept moist but not waterlogged; watering can follow the principle of watering when dry and stopping when wet. During the growing season, a small amount of light fertilizer can be applied to help the branches and leaves grow lush. Usually, take care to prune dead branches and overly dense branches to keep the tree form open. In daily care, also observe the leaf condition more often and deal with pests or disease spots promptly; a well-ventilated environment with ample light will help it grow more robustly.
