An indoor plant wall is a form of greenery in which plants are grown vertically on an indoor wall or a dedicated framework, and it is also often called a vertical greening wall. It turns flat greenery into a three-dimensional display, adding a touch of nature to living rooms, entryways, offices and other spaces without taking up much floor space.

When it comes to plant selection, most plants suited to indoor plant walls are shade-tolerant, easy-care foliage plants, such as golden pothos, ivy, spider plant, arrowhead plant and ferns. These plants have low light requirements and dense foliage with strong covering ability, so when planted in combination they easily form a richly layered green display.

Common construction methods include the modular type, the framework type and the pocket type. With the modular type, plants are first grown in standard planting boxes and then assembled onto the wall; with the pocket type, felt pockets are fixed to a waterproof layer for planting, making installation relatively simple. Whichever method is used, supporting measures such as waterproofing, drainage and supplemental lighting need to be prepared in advance to prevent the wall from becoming damp or the plants from lacking light.

For routine care, plant walls are generally watered with a drip irrigation system, so manually you only need to regularly check the moisture of the growing medium, prune overlong or yellowing branches and leaves, and pay attention to maintaining ventilation and preventing pests and diseases. Indoors with insufficient light, artificial light sources can be added as appropriate. With proper care, an indoor plant wall can stay vibrant for the long term and can also regulate indoor humidity to a certain extent and ease visual fatigue, making the whole space feel more comfortable and pleasant.
