Shangpin Tianlong is an orchid variety, and its daily care focuses on water, fertilizer and ventilation
Shangpin Tianlong is an orchid variety named after Tianlong, and its name alone conveys the breeder's expectations for its grade. Among Chinese orchids, varieties bearing the two characters Tianlong are not uncommon, such as Jianlan (Cymbidium ensifolium) cultivars Tianlong Yuanhe and Tianlong Hexian, Chunlan (Cymbidium goeringii) cultivars Tianlong Qidie and Xuelong, and Huilan (Cymbidium faberi) cultivar Tianlong Suruidie, most of which draw orchid growers' attention for their distinctive flower shapes or colors.
Orchids named for a high-grade positioning like this one usually have something noteworthy in petal shape, flower color or fragrance, and their plant form is mostly upright and elegant, combining the value of foliage viewing with flower appreciation. For home orchid growers, the flowering period is when it shines most, while at ordinary times it wins by the posture of its leaves, and placed in a corner of a balcony or living room it has quite a refined charm.
As for care, Shangpin Tianlong has habits similar to other Chinese orchids, preferring loose, breathable, slightly acidic potting medium, which can be mixed from bark, Kanuma soil and the like. In daily care, place it in a spot with ample diffused light and good ventilation, water it according to the principle of watering when dry and letting it dry between waterings, avoid long-term water accumulation in the pot that causes root rot, and apply light fertilizer frequently during the growing season.
It should be noted that there are many orchid seedlings on the market with the same or similar names, so when buying it is best to choose a reliable source of seedlings and carefully check the health of the leaves and root system. If beginners are unsure about when to water, they can lean toward drier care first; orchid plants tolerate drought but fear waterlogging, and it is often safer to err on the dry side than the wet side.
