Maifan stone water refers to water that has been soaked in or filtered through maifan stone. Maifan stone is a natural mineral with a porous structure, containing various minerals and trace elements such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron. After water comes into contact with maifan stone, some mineral components slowly dissolve out, improving the water quality to a certain extent. For this reason, many people treat maifan stone water as a water source containing trace minerals, using it for daily drinking and garden watering.

In terms of water quality characteristics, maifan stone water generally has a slightly sweet taste, with a pH mostly close to neutral or weakly alkaline, and relatively few impurities. The porous structure of maifan stone also has a certain adsorption effect on some odors and impurities in the water; when the soaking time is appropriate and the stone is relatively fresh, the treatment effect tends to be more noticeable. However, this kind of effect belongs to the natural dissolution of minerals, is mild, and should not be exaggerated.

In orchid care, maifan stone water is welcomed by many orchid growers. Traditional orchid varieties such as Cymbidium goeringii and Cymbidium sinense are relatively sensitive to water quality; long-term direct watering with hard or chlorine-rich tap water can easily affect the condition of the growing medium and the growth of orchid roots. Watering orchids with maifan stone water is relatively mild, and if maifan stone granules are also used as growing medium, it helps keep the environment in the pot loose and airy, which is fairly friendly to root development.

It should be noted that maifan stone water is only an auxiliary water source and cannot replace fertilizer and normal nutrient management. The growth of orchids still depends on reasonable fertilization and growing medium combinations; when first growing orchids, it is even more inadvisable to use maifan stone water as a nutrient solution for frequent watering. When making maifan stone water yourself, you should choose clean, unpolluted maifan stone, rinse it thoroughly before use, and pay attention to replacing it regularly to ensure water hygiene.
