What kind of fertilizer is magnesium nitro-humate? Its effects, characteristics and suitable crops
Magnesium nitro-humate is a humic acid-based magnesium-containing fertilizer and falls under the category of organic-inorganic compound fertilizers. It is generally made from lignite, weathered coal and similar materials as raw materials: first, nitric acid oxidation and nitration treatment is used to obtain nitro-humic acid, which is then reacted with magnesium-containing raw materials. It usually appears as a dark brown powder or granule and provides two nutrient sources at the same time, humic acid and magnesium.
In terms of composition characteristics, nitro groups and more active functional groups are introduced into the molecular structure of nitro-humic acid, so its activity is usually higher than that of ordinary humic acid and its water solubility is also better. The magnesium in it is a core constituent element of the chlorophyll molecule, directly participating in photosynthesis, and it can also activate various enzymes to help crops grow normally; the humic acid portion can improve soil structure, chelate nutrients, promote root development and increase the overall utilization rate of the fertilizer.
In application, magnesium nitro-humate is suitable for magnesium-deficient soils as well as acidic, sandy and other fields where nutrients are easily leached, and it is relatively common on crops with high magnesium demand such as citrus, grapes, bananas, tomatoes and potatoes. It can be applied to the soil as a base fertilizer or topdressing, and can also be used as a raw material for water-soluble fertilizers; the specific dosage should be determined according to the product instructions and soil conditions.
When using it, note that magnesium nitro-humate generally should not be mixed directly with strongly alkaline substances, and it should be kept dry and moisture-proof during storage. Because excessive amounts of potassium and ammonium ions may antagonize magnesium and affect absorption, it is recommended to arrange application in combination with soil testing and balanced fertilization; for plots with severe magnesium deficiency, foliar spraying to supplement magnesium can be used under the guidance of professionals.
