The tea tree was first discovered in Australia. It grows to about 3 m tall. Although it is called a tea tree, it has nothing to do with tea at all. Its branches are long, and its flowers are white. It has strong vitality, and even after being cut down it can stay alive for some time. The essential oil is extracted from its branches and leaves. It is transparent and colorless, and its scent is very much like pine oil and eucalyptus.

Indigenous peoples used tea tree leaves to treat wounds very early on, and the leaves could also be used as an antidote for venomous snake bites. It was also used as an anti-inflammatory agent during the World Wars. The Aboriginal people of Australia recognized the benefits of the tea tree long ago. When the rest of the world still regarded it as a weed, they already knew how to use tea tree leaves to treat infected wounds. It was introduced to Europe around 1927, and its excellent antibacterial properties quickly drew attention. British settlers who emigrated to Australia also followed the wisdom of the Aboriginal people and discovered that when medical supplies were in short supply, tea tree leaves could be used for emergencies. Tea tree is a new player in aromatherapy, but its popularity is growing day by day, because tea tree is very effective at stimulating the immune system. Australia, the United States and France are all studying tea tree's anti-infective and anti-fungal effects, especially its effectiveness in treating various skin diseases. During World War II, tea tree was an essential medicine for troops sent to tropical regions and for arms factory workers to treat skin injuries. It is often used in surgery and dental procedures, and also frequently appears in soaps, deodorants, cleansers and air fresheners.

How to use tea tree essential oil on the face

1. It cannot be applied directly to the face, because the concentration of tea tree single essential oil is very high, and applying it directly to the face will burn the skin.

2. Tea tree single essential oil must be diluted before it can be applied to the face. Also note that for dilution it is best to dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil at a ratio of 1:10, and do not use more than 5% each time, and do not use it frequently.

3. If you have acne on your face, you can use a cotton swab to spot-apply a small amount of tea tree essential oil (use with caution on sensitive skin) on the areas with acne, which can help fade acne marks and lighten scars.
