Precautions for Using Birch Essential Oil and Which Is Better, Birch or Oak
Precautions during the use of birch essential oil: it is a potent essential oil that may irritate sensitive skin, so the dosage requires special attention, and some aromatherapists simply abandon it altogether. Keep it out of the reach of children. It is prohibited for pregnant women.
Is birch better or oak better
Birch is rich in elasticity, tends to crack and warp when dried, and is not wear-resistant. It has good processing performance, a smooth cut surface, and good painting and gluing properties. It is often used for carved components, though it is less used now.
Characteristics of birch furniture:
Advantages:
1) It has a relatively distinct mountain-shaped wood grain, and the surface feels good to the touch
2) It is of a relatively high grade and is suitable for making European-style furniture
Disadvantages:
1) There are relatively few high-quality tree species, and if imported, the price is relatively high.
2) Because oak is hard and heavy, it is relatively difficult to remove all moisture; furniture made without fully removing the moisture begins to deform only after a year or so.
3) The phenomenon of substituting rubberwood for oak is widespread in the market, and if customers lack sufficient professional knowledge, it directly affects consumers' interests.
Rubberwood is native to Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. Domestically it is produced in Yunnan, Hainan and the coastal areas, and it is the raw material for making latex. Rubberwood is light yellowish-brown in color, with obvious annual rings, dark bands at the ring boundaries, and very few pores. The wood structure is coarse and uniform. The grain is diagonal, and the wood is relatively hard.
Advantages: smooth cut surface, easy to glue, and good paint coating performance.
Disadvantages: rubberwood has an off-odor, and because it contains a lot of sugar, it easily discolors, decays and is damaged by insects. It is not easy to dry, is not wear-resistant, easily cracks, and easily bends and deforms. The wood is easy to process, but the boards easily deform during processing.
