What are the main medicinal components and chemical components of garlic essential oil? Do you know? Let's take a look.

Components of garlic essential oil:

Components: Garlic essential oil is a multi-component mixture composed of allicin (C6H10OS2), garlicin (C6H10O2S) and various sulfide compounds made up of allyl and methyl groups: (CH2=CHCH2)2S, (CH2CHCH2)2S2, (CH2=CHCH2)2S3, (CH3)2S, (CH3CH2)2S2, (CH3)2S3, CH2=CHCH2SCH3, CH3CH2CH2S2CH3, CH2=CHCH2S3CH3. It also contains citral, geraniol, linalool, alpha-phellandrene, propionaldehyde, valeraldehyde and others (Lu Xinyuan, 2002). Among them, there are 6 main components, all belonging to allyl sulfide substances: allyl methyl sulfide, diallyl sulfide, allyl methyl disulfide, diallyl disulfide, allyl methyl trisulfide and diallyl trisulfide. Diallyl trisulfide is the main component responsible for the physiological activity of garlic essential oil. It is a pale yellow or brownish-red liquid; it has a strong garlic odor; density 1.050-1.095; refractive index 1.550-1.580; soluble in most non-volatile oils, partially soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water, glycerol, propylene glycol and others; chemical stability: strong acids, strong oxidants and ultraviolet lamps can cause deterioration.
Chemical components: sulfur compounds -- allicin, allyl sulfide
