Basic Characteristics of Rose Essential Oil

Natural rose essential oil is one of the most precious aromatic oils among plant essential oils, and has long been known by the laudatory title "liquid gold." Pure natural rose essential oil is made from high-quality fresh roses picked at the appropriate time as raw material, obtained through low-temperature extraction (extraction) using certain process technologies and equipment, with a pale yellow liquid and a rich, intense rose aroma.

Characteristics of Bulgarian Rose Essential Oil

Bulgarian rose generally refers to the collective name for the Damask (Rosa damascena NO:1) series of roses cultivated in Bulgaria over the long term. Its main varieties come in three types: pale pink, pink, and white, among which the white variety is the best in quality, while the other two varieties are used in small amounts in blending.

Bulgarian rose belongs to the Rosaceae family, Rosa genus, a deciduous shrub. This genus has as many as several thousand varieties, the vast majority of which belong to China rose or bush rose. Internationally, rose, China rose, and bush rose are usually collectively called (Rose) rose. China's plant taxonomists, based on the number of prickles on the branches, the number of times it blooms each year, and its fragrance, divide them into three major categories: rose, China rose, and bush rose. What China refers to as rose generally has densely growing prickles on the branches, blooms once a year in spring, and has a rich rose fragrance. According to China's classification method, there are about 200 to 300 true rose cultivars worldwide. Among them, Bulgaria has the most varieties, with about 150 or more varieties. Next are France, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Morocco. Because Bulgarian rose belongs to the international fragrance type, its oil yield is as high as 3.6 per ten thousand, making it the best variety for extracting rose essential oil and producing rose hydrosol (fresh flower water). Fresh flower yield per mu is 500 to 750 kg, and dry flower and dry flower bud yield per mu is 80 to 100 kg.
