How to store garlic essential oil and how to keep garlic from sprouting
How to store garlic essential oil so that its quality and effectiveness are not reduced, and how to keep garlic from sprouting - come and find out.
How to store garlic essential oil:
-
1. Tighten the cap of the essential oil bottle
Essential oils are volatile. To prevent oxidation and rapid evaporation of the essential oil, the cap must be tightened firmly. It is best to open the cap only when using it, to reduce the number of times it is opened and prevent oxygen in the air from oxidizing the essential oil, which would cause its quality to decline.
-
2. Keep essential oils in a dark place
Essential oils must avoid contact with sunlight and strong light. Sunlight most easily spoils essential oils, so exposure to sunlight must be absolutely avoided. Do not place essential oils in direct sunlight or in places with sunlight; do not expose essential oils under lamplight either, as the temperature and intensity of lamplight can also spoil essential oils.
-
3. Keep essential oils away from high temperatures
The volatility and easy oxidation of essential oils make them very difficult to preserve. High temperature is also a taboo for essential oils. Usually, never place essential oils in high-temperature places; keep them away from heat and high temperatures. It is best to place them in a dry, cool place, and they should not be too close to electrical appliances, let alone placed in the kitchen or bathroom, as this will only make your essential oils no longer effective.
-
4. Essential oils cannot be put in the refrigerator
Essential oils must avoid high temperatures, so many people think of putting them in the refrigerator, but this is actually wrong. The storage temperature for essential oils is room temperature 18-30 degrees, with the optimal temperature about 25 degrees. Therefore, the low temperature of the refrigerator is not suitable for preserving essential oils, and if you use the essential oils often, this temperature difference will accelerate the decline in their quality.
How to keep garlic from sprouting
First: fresh garlic can be refrigerated
The refrigerator has always been a good place for us to keep things fresh, and freshly bought garlic can also be stored in the refrigerator. The method is to peel off the outer layers of skin from the new garlic, leaving only the innermost thin layer, put the peeled garlic cloves into a lidded fresh-keeping box, and then place it in the refrigerator's cold storage compartment.
This method can keep garlic fresh for two to three months, and it is very simple to do, but it cannot be stored for much longer than that, since storing garlic this way is only temporary.
Second: hanging storage method
Put all the garlic into an open container (an old-fashioned bamboo woven basket would be even better), then hang the container in a cool, ventilated spot that does not get direct sunlight.
If what you bought is new garlic, you also need to take down the hanging container after about a week, check whether there are any parts of the garlic that have not dried, and then hang it up again. Continue hanging it for storage until the garlic is completely dried.
Third: wrapping in plastic bags
Old garlic bought in winter sprouts easily. If you use the hanging storage method, it can easily sprout before you have even finished eating the garlic. Put the garlic into a clean plastic bag, sprinkle some edible salt into the plastic bag, wrap the garlic completely with the plastic bag, and then place it in a cool, ventilated spot. This can keep garlic fresh for a long time and also make it less likely to sprout. It is also a relatively common storage method among modern people.
