Is the mouse melon a watermelon? Characteristics, taste and growing methods
Foreign websites recently shared this “mini watermelon”, said to be the newest watermelon variety. Its name is the mouse melon, also called the Mexican sour cucumber or the mouse gourd. This watermelon is found throughout Mexico and Central America.
Although it looks very much like a watermelon on the outside, when cut open it looks like this, and the inside is not like a watermelon. In taste and texture it is more like a cucumber.
Each one is tiny and very cute, and very convenient to eat. Simply put the whole mouse melon into your mouth and eat it skin and all.
This mouse melon is very easy to grow and will not be damaged by pests. Many farmers are now also starting to grow this new type of watermelon in large quantities, with good harvests.
You can also make mouse melons into salad or pickle them. In addition, you can also use them in cocktails, on fruit skewers, or make them into juice, which is good too.
How to grow mouse melons:
If you want to grow this mouse melon, you can buy its seeds. Plant the seeds in fertile soil, with a distance of more than 12 inches between each seed. After about 70 days they can be harvested!
Note:
Water at least 1-2 times every week, and it will slowly grow and bear fruit.
