What are some good methods to control mushroom mites.

Mushroom mites, also known as fungus lice, fungus spiders, or mushroom mites, damage many kinds of edible fungi. When mushroom mites cause damage in the early stage after spawning of edible fungi, the mycelium of the inoculated block is bitten first, and mycelial germination is often not seen; when mushroom mites cause damage slightly later, it causes mushroom buds to shrivel and die. When mushroom mites cause damage on the fruiting bodies, the damaged parts change color or develop holes, seriously affecting yield and quality. Because mushroom mites are small and hard to see with the naked eye, they can easily take the opportunity to damage mushrooms. Therefore, mushroom mites must be controlled in time during edible fungus cultivation and management.

About 7 days after spawning of edible fungi, cover the surface of the substrate with colored plastic film for 5-10 minutes, then place a magnifying glass close to the side of the culture substrate to observe. Once mushroom mites are found that are small, flat or oval, white or yellow, and have many bristles, immediately choose the following methods to kill them.

1. Fumigation to kill mites: Dip a cotton ball in dichlorvos and place it on the surface of the bottom substrate of the bed frame, then cover the bed surface with plastic sheeting so that the drug volatilizes and fumigates the surface to kill the mites.

2. Spraying to kill mites: Use a 1000-fold dilution of 50% omethoate, a 1500-fold dilution of fenpropathrin-ester mixture, or a 500-fold dilution of propargite and spray to kill mites. Spraying repeatedly 2-3 times with a 400-fold dilution of laundry detergent also has a very good mite-killing effect.

3. Rapeseed cake baiting: Spread several pieces of wet cloth on the substrate surface where mushroom mites are damaging, scatter freshly roasted rapeseed cake on the wet cloth, and when the mites gather on the rapeseed cake powder on the wet cloth, remove the wet cloth and place it in boiling water for a moment to kill the mites.

4. Sugar-vinegar liquid baiting: Take 1 part acetic acid, 1 part clear water, and 0.1 part white sugar, mix evenly, then add 1-2 drops of dichlorvos to make the sugar-vinegar liquid. Soak gauze strips or cotton in the liquid and place them on the substrate surface. When the mites gather on them, remove them and scald the pests to death. Repeat the above operation until there are no mites.

5. Fresh bone baiting: Place fresh pig bones on the bed surface where mushroom mites appear and cause damage, arranged at intervals. When the mites gather on them, place the bones in boiling water for a moment to kill the mites. Repeat several times until there are no mites on the bed surface.
