Can the concentration of nutrient solution added to edible fungi be too high.

The concentration of nutrient solution added to edible fungi must not be too high, but it must not be too low either; the concentration must be appropriate. If the nutrient solution concentration is too high, not only will the mycelium have difficulty absorbing it, but it will also hinder mycelial growth; if the concentration is too low, the yield-increasing effect will not be obvious. At an appropriate concentration, when adding it, it should also be determined according to the moisture level in the substrate.

If the moisture content of the culture substrate is too high, the nutrient solution concentration can be appropriately increased and the amount of water used reduced; after supplementing the nutrient solution, ventilation should be strengthened. Conversely, reduce the concentration and increase the amount of water used. Commonly used concentrations include urea at 0.3%-0.5% and monopotassium phosphate at 0.2%.

1. The concentration must be appropriate

When the nutrient solution concentration is too high, not only will the mycelium have difficulty absorbing it, but it will also hinder mycelial growth; when the concentration is too low, the physiological effect will not be obvious, and the goal of high yield cannot be achieved. At an appropriate concentration, when adding the nutrient solution, it should also be determined according to the water content of the culture substrate. For example: if the water content of the culture substrate is relatively high, the concentration of the nutrient solution should be increased and the amount of water used reduced, and after adding it, ventilation should be increased. Conversely, the concentration of the nutrient solution should be reduced and the amount of water used increased.

2. Do not use a single nutrient solution alone

Several nutrient solutions should be used alternately regularly, so that the nutrients needed for fruiting body growth are both comprehensive and reasonable. If hormones are used to stimulate fruiting body growth, hormone-type nutrient solutions should be used only after the nutrient solution has been supplemented.

3. Use nutrient solutions according to environmental conditions

When the temperature reaches above 20°C, it is difficult for the mycelium to form high-quality fruiting bodies (except for high-temperature-type edible fungus varieties), so no nutrient solution needs to be added. If the temperature is below or at the lower limit temperature for fruiting body growth, the amount of nutrient solution used can be increased. In addition, if the culture substrate has already been infected by contaminating fungi, the contaminating fungi must first be removed before adding the nutrient solution. To prevent contamination by contaminating fungi, a certain amount of bacteriostatic agent can also be added while spraying the nutrient solution, to prevent the contaminating fungi from growing and spreading.
