Most of China's soybeans come from the United States, and most soybeans need to rely on imports from the United States. Affected by the China-US trade war, China will substantially increase taxes on US agricultural products, and China has no choice but to adopt corresponding agricultural policies to raise the proportion of domestically produced soybeans. According to CCTV news: right now, large-scale spring sowing is underway in the Northeast. The reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that this year the soybean planting area in the four provinces and regions of Northeast China and the Huang-Huai-Hai region has increased substantially.
Imported soybean prices

Recently, the reporter came to Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province, where the locality is busy with spring sowing. This year, major grain grower Sun Anfu planted all 1,500 mu of his family's land with soybeans.

Sun Anfu said that before spring sowing last year, he did not know that the state would give a soybean subsidy of 340 yuan per mu, which was 295 yuan per mu higher than that for corn; later he saw that the market price of soybeans remained strong, so he regretted planting too little. This year he did not hesitate and went all in following the policy. In Hailun City, long known as the country's “hometown of soybeans”, major growers this year all coincidentally expanded their soybean planting.

Wang Baofeng, deputy mayor of Hailun City: Our soybean planting area this year reached 2.6 million mu, an increase of 600,000 mu over last year. The main reasons for the increase in area are, first, the state proposed the soybean revitalization plan, and farmers saw the policy dividends; second, market prices are good, and farmers feel it is worthwhile and profitable.

At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the “Implementation Plan for the Soybean Revitalization Plan”. This year China will expand the soybean planting area in the Northeast, Huang-Huai-Hai and Southwest regions. It strives to reach a soybean area of 140 million mu by 2020 and 150 million mu by 2022, of which the soybean area will increase by 10 million mu in 2019.

Heilongjiang Province, which has the largest soybean planting area in China, released favorable policy signals to farmers before preparing for spring plowing this year.

According to the latest agricultural situation dispatch data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as of May 10, 840 million mu of various crops had been sown nationwide, completing more than 60 percent of the intended area. Among them, 37.4% of soybeans had been sown. The increase in planting area in Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia was significant
