What are the common problems in winter mushroom cultivation?
Although winter is cold, it is precisely an important season for mushroom production in Yutian County. When carrying out mushroom production in such a season, the following technical issues should be noted in order to produce high-quality mushroom products.
The issues that need attention are as follows:
First, reinforce the mushroom shed to prevent losses caused by strong winds overturning the roof or heavy snow crushing the roof;
Second, there must be measures for raising and maintaining temperature. It is best to use a heat wall for heating to raise the temperature of the mushroom shed, so as to prevent cold damage and even mushroom buds being frozen to death. The north wall of the mushroom shed should be as thick as possible or have insulation material added in the middle to prevent the north wind. For greenhouses, thick straw curtains or insulation quilts should be used as much as possible to keep warm at night;
Third, strengthen ventilation management. Since mushrooms mainly live by decomposing organic matter, they need oxygen during metabolism and also release carbon dioxide. The purpose of ventilation is to replenish the oxygen that mushrooms need and expel the carbon dioxide produced by their metabolism. Especially after entering the fruiting stage, both the oxygen demand and the amount of carbon dioxide produced will increase. Without ventilation, the mushrooms will become deformed or even die. The specific measures are: (1) Open the ventilation holes at noon, but on the premise that the temperature difference between inside and outside the shed is not too large; (2) When the outside temperature is above 5°C, lift the plastic film at the lower part of the south side of the shed by about 10 cm, and the ventilation effect is very obvious.
Fourth, strengthen humidity control to ensure the water content of the compost or mushroom logs and the relative humidity of the mushroom shed. It is best to hang several wet-and-dry thermometers in the mushroom shed to monitor the temperature and relative air humidity in the shed and keep them within the normal range.
