How to control edible mushroom mites

About 7 days after sowing edible mushrooms, cover the surface of the substrate with colored plastic film for 5-10 minutes, then place a magnifying glass close to the side of the substrate to observe. Once mushroom mites are found that are small, flat or oval in shape, white or yellow, and have multiple bristles, immediately choose one of the following methods to kill them.

Edible mushroom mites, also known as fungus lice, fungus spiders, and mushroom mites, harm many kinds of edible mushrooms. When mushroom mite damage occurs in the early stage after sowing, the mycelium of the inoculated block is bitten first, and mycelial germination is often not seen; when mushroom mite damage occurs later, it causes mushroom buds to shrink and die. When mushroom mite damage occurs on the fruiting bodies, the damaged parts become discolored or develop holes, seriously affecting yield and quality. Because mushroom mites are small and difficult to see with the naked eye, they can easily take the opportunity to harm mushrooms. Therefore, mushroom mites must be controlled promptly in edible mushroom cultivation management.

1. Fumigation to kill mites: Dip a cotton ball in dichlorvos, place it on the surface of the bottom layer of the bed frame, then cover the bed surface with plastic sheeting so that the pesticide volatilizes and fumigates to kill the mites.

2. Spraying pesticide to kill mites: Spray with a 50% omethoate 1000-fold solution, a 1500-fold julehe ester solution, or a 500-fold propargite solution to kill mites. Spraying continuously 2-3 times with a 400-fold washing powder solution also has a very good mite-killing effect.

3. Rapeseed cake baiting: Spread several pieces of wet cloth on the substrate surface where mushroom mites are causing damage, sprinkle freshly roasted rapeseed cake on the wet cloth, and when the mites gather on the rapeseed cake powder on the wet cloth, remove the wet cloth and place it in boiling water for a moment to kill the mites.

4. Sugar-vinegar pesticide baiting: Take 1 part acetic acid, 1 part clean water, and 0.1 part white sugar, mix well, then add 1-2 drops of dichlorvos to prepare the sugar-vinegar pesticide solution. Soak gauze strips or cotton in the pesticide solution and place them on the substrate surface. When the mites gather on them, remove them and scald the pests to death. Repeat the above operation until there are no mites left.

5. Fresh bone baiting: Place fresh pork bones on the bed surface where mushroom mites appear and cause damage, alternating their placement. When the mites gather on them, place the bones in boiling water for a moment to kill the mites. Repeat several times until there are no mites on the bed surface.
