Edible Mushroom Cutworm Control and Disease Identification Methods

Control of Edible Mushroom Cutworms

Control methods:

1. Before using the mushroom house, seal it tightly and fumigate it with "Guchong Yixunjing" or "Xunchong 120 Smoke Bomb Insecticide" to kill insect eggs.

2. Old and new mushroom bags must not be mixed in the mushroom house. Waste material left after each harvest season must be disposed of promptly, and new mushrooms can only be planted after the mushroom house has been thoroughly disinfected.

3. Once larvae are found inside the mushroom bags, trapping and killing methods can be used. Dilute "Chongmanjing" with water at a ratio of 1:500, then add 250 g of white sugar and half a bottle of white vinegar to each sprayer (15 kg), stir well, and spray directly on the bag opening area. The principle behind this control method is that pests all prefer sweet and acidic substances; when the larvae inside the bag smell the sweet substance at the bag opening, they crawl out of the bag to feed on it and die.

For growers with a small planting scale, once larvae appear, after harvesting the mushrooms, the mushroom bags can also be soaked in a 1000-fold diluted "Chongmanjing" solution for about 4 hours. This not only replenishes the water content of the mushroom bags but also has a strong killing effect on the pests in the bags. (The main ingredient of Chongmanjing is diafenthiuron, a biological pesticide that does not harm the mycelium or the mushroom bodies.)

4. During the growing period, at intervals of about 4 days, close the mushroom house at night and fumigate it once with "Guchong Yixunjing" or "Xunchong 120 Smoke Bomb Insecticide"; the effect is very good.
