How to use rooting powder on baby's breath seeds? Methods for cultivating strong seedlings
Rooting powder is a growth-promoting agent commonly used in the process of growing and caring for flowering plants. If used for sprouting, it can be fully dissolved in water, diluted, and used as sprouting water, or poured directly onto plants to promote rooting. However, the rooting water made by mixing rooting powder should be low in concentration rather than high, otherwise it will not promote rooting in seeds or plants.

Baby's breath is an evergreen plant with very exquisite flowers and leaves and highly distinctive features. Like many flowering plants, it produces seeds after flowering, and once the seeds mature, they are harvested for sowing and propagating baby's breath seedlings. Generally, in autumn, from mid to late September, seeds can be used for sowing and propagation. But before sowing, the seeds should be soaked to promote germination, and for soaking, a little rooting powder can be dissolved in clean water to promote seed germination. So, how do you use rooting powder on baby's breath seeds? How long should baby's breath seeds be soaked in rooting powder?
Because the germination rate of baby's breath seeds is very low, they generally need to go through seed soaking and germination promotion to sprout smoothly. If rooting powder is needed for soaking the seeds, a small amount can be added to water, then soaked for 24 hours to promote germination. Of course, we can also use methods such as the paper towel germination method, and generally they can sprout within 24 hours. When the seeds successfully show white sprouts, we can use them for sowing and propagation.
Of course, if we can combine soaking in rooting powder with the paper towel germination method, germination is often smoother and the effect is more obvious. But to improve seed viability, it is recommended to sun the seeds for half a day before soaking and promoting germination. Be careful not to expose them to scorching sun; ordinary direct sunlight is sufficient. After about 12 hours of sun exposure, the seed viability is basically greatly improved, and the germination rate is naturally higher.
After letting the seeds sun for 12 hours during the day, at night the seeds can be placed in a water solution with a small amount of rooting powder added and soaked overnight. Of course, in addition to rooting powder, plant growth hormone agents such as gibberellin can also be used; just add a few drops to the water for it to take effect. The next day, we take the seeds out and wrap them in wet paper towels to promote germination.
But during the paper towel germination period, be sure to block light and maintain moisture. The temperature should be kept between 20°C-28°C. If all goes well, in about 3-5 days we can see signs of germination in baby's breath seeds. Our germination promotion treatment will naturally have succeeded smoothly. Of course, when sowing, we also need to disinfect both the seeds and the substrate to prevent pathogens from damaging the seeds and affecting seedling emergence.
