How to use rooting powder on the money tree? Disease prevention methods you need to know
For home potted plant owners, the potted money tree (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) offers many benefits, so its practical value is very high. The money tree can be propagated into small potted seedlings by means of cuttings, division and tubers, but to speed up survival and promote sprouting, we can usually treat it with rooting powder. So, how do you use rooting powder on the money tree?

For money tree propagation, especially cutting propagation, whether it is stem cuttings, leaf cuttings or even water cuttings, we can use rooting powder to treat the material in order to speed up rooting and increase the survival rate. But when it comes to how to use rooting powder, the method often differs depending on the type of cutting. Below, the editor will briefly explain how to use rooting powder scientifically when propagating the money tree.
For stem cuttings or leaf cuttings, to speed up rooting and increase the survival rate, we can apply some rooting powder to the base of the cutting. There are quite a few types of rooting powder, and we need to use those that promote root development. Generally, the cuttings are soaked in an ABT No. 6-10 solution, with a rooting powder concentration of 200-500 mg/kg of solution. Note that you must never use ABT No. 1-5 rooting powder, because No. 1-5 dissolve easily in alcohol, while No. 6-10 dissolve easily in water. Also, a soaking time of about half a minute gives the best rooting results for cuttings.
Of course, we can also cut the money tree's large pinnate compound leaves into stem segments of about 10 cm, and keep 1-2 leaves on each stem segment. Then dip the end of these stem segments that needs to be planted into a liquid with dissolved rooting powder. The rooting liquid used here can be 100 mg/L indolebutyric acid, or a liquid with dissolved ABT No. 1 rooting powder; soak the stem branches for 3-5 seconds, and do not soak them too long, otherwise the result will be the opposite of what you want.
Money tree cuttings that have been coated with rooting powder or soaked in rooting liquid often root noticeably faster after planting, and the rooting time is clearly earlier. But even so, the time for money tree cuttings to sprout can still be unstable: at the fastest it may be a few weeks, at the slowest it may be several months, and some may even need longer. This is mainly due to the influence of the growing environment, especially factors such as temperature and humidity.
Of course, money tree cutting propagation is relatively time-consuming, and we need to be patient enough to wait. However, as long as the leaves on the cuttings are still healthy, intact and emerald green, we do not need to worry too much and can pay it no mind at all. As long as we do a good job with daily care and management and create a suitable growing environment for the cuttings, they will root and sprout sooner or later.
