How to Propagate Plumeria? Introduction to Common Propagation Methods
Plumeria has extremely high ornamental value. The whole tree appears graceful, well-proportioned, natural and beautiful. The multi-year old trunk of a mature plumeria has a naturally formed shape that is vigorous and upright, full of presence; its canopy is like a cover, full of green, naturally growing into a rounded form.

Therefore, in landscaping, plumeria simultaneously provides greening, beautification, fragrance and other effects. In garden layouts, it can be used in various configurations such as solitary planting, cluster planting, and waterside accent planting. It is deeply loved by people and has become an indispensable excellent tree species in the greening of southern China. In South China's Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places, it is widely used for greening and beautification of parks, courtyards, green belts, lawns, etc. In northern China, plumeria is mostly used for potted ornamental display.
Plumeria is usually propagated by cuttings or sowing, mainly by cuttings. Usually in spring, cut 1-2 year old thick and strong branches, 10-15 cm long, first place them in a cool place, and after the cut ends dry for 2-3 days, insert them into a sand bed; rooting is easy. After the cutting seedlings are cultivated for 1-2 years, they can be transplanted into garden open-field cultivation or potted cultivation. Sowing is best done in spring and summer. The suitable temperature after seed germination is 24-28 degrees Celsius. After sowing, maintain moisture, and they can germinate in 3-4 weeks.
Plumeria likes hot and humid climates, is tolerant of drought, and prefers growing in limestone rocky areas; cutting propagation is extremely easy to succeed. Generally, it is suitable in mid-to-late May to cut branches 20-30 cm long from the base of branches. White latex flows from the cut, so they need to be placed in a cool, ventilated place for 2-3 days to let the wound form a protective film before cutting; cuttings with latex are prone to rot. Insert into clean vermiculite or a sand bed or a shallow sand pot, spray water after changing, place indoors or under an outdoor shade shed, spray water once every other day, and keep the substrate moist. After cutting, move to a semi-shaded place after 15-20 days, so they receive weak light; they root in 30-35 days, and can be potted in 45 days. After the cutting seedlings root and survive, they should be transplanted in time into pots with a diameter of 20 cm.
