Spring and summer are the seasons when spider plants grow most vigorously. During this time, we can propagate spider plants appropriately to add a bit more green to the home. So how should spider plants be propagated? It is very simple. Follow the methods below and give it a try yourself.

Spider plants can be propagated by cuttings, division, sowing and other methods. Spider plant cuttings and division propagation can be carried out at any time from spring to autumn. Spider plants are highly adaptable and have a high survival rate, so they are generally very easy to propagate.

When taking cuttings, simply take a 5-10 cm runner with new buds and insert it into the soil. It will root in about one week, and after about 20 days it can be transplanted into a pot. Water it thoroughly and place it in a shady spot for care.

When dividing spider plants, you can lift the plant out of the pot, remove the old soil and rotten roots, cut apart the old roots so that each divided plant retains three stems, and then transplant and grow them separately. You can also cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's runners (which are actually young new plantlets, with leaves above and aerial roots below) and plant them directly into a flower pot to grow.

Seed propagation of spider plants can be carried out every year in March. Because the seeds are not large, the soil covering them after sowing should not be thick; generally 0.5 cm is enough. At a temperature of 15°C, the seeds can sprout in about 2 weeks. Once the seedlings have taken shape, transplant and grow them.

Spider plants are very easy to care for. Make sure they have enough sunlight and water, and they will grow very well. If you are not sure whether they need water, just stick your finger into the soil. If it is dry and has no moisture, water it; if it is moist, leave it alone. Occasionally leaves will turn brown and die, which is very normal.
