A Detailed Guide to Sowing and Raising Potted Daisy Seedlings

  Daisies have gradually become a favorite among flower growers and are grown indoors in pots. To produce daisies with beautiful flower colors, the way they are sown is extremely important, so how should daisies be sown and raised?

  Sowing potted daisies:

  Daisy seeds are very small, with 4900-6600 seeds per gram. Home sowing is mostly done in September. Because the temperature difference between north and south is great, southern households mainly sow in August.

  For pot sowing, choose a loose, breathable flower pot. The pot should be disinfected and covered with a thin layer of vermiculite, just enough to hide the seeds. Once the daisy seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves, they can be transplanted once. The pH value of the sowing medium should be 5.8-6.5, and an EC value of 0.5-0.75 is more suitable. After sowing, keep the room temperature at 18-20°C and humidity at 80-90%, and they will germinate in 5-8 days.

  After sowing, keep the indoor temperature at 18-22°C and humidity at 80-90%. The radicle grows out in about a week. After germination, the medium should still be kept moist, and the plants need to be placed on a balcony to receive light, but the light at germination time must not be too strong, so appropriate shading is needed. In July-August, shading is still needed around noon to lower the temperature.

  Raising strong seedlings:

  1. Seedbed preparation: The seedbed soil should be as fine and level as possible. Apply base fertilizer per sq m, spread it evenly, plow, and level the bed surface. Before sowing, water thoroughly to wet the bed; after the water seeps down, spread a thin layer of sifted fine soil on the bed surface, then scatter the seeds.

  2. Seed treatment: Select excellent varieties and mix the seeds with a 800-fold solution of Xin Gaozhi Mo (which can repel underground pests and diseases, isolate viral infection, does not affect the imbibition function for germination, strengthens respiration intensity, and increases the seed germination rate).

  3. Seedling-stage management: When the seedlings come up evenly, remove the screen. When two or three leaves have grown, do the first pricking out, with bare roots and no old soil. The bed soil needs to be moist; water in due time, loosen the soil to preserve moisture, and harden the seedlings. When the seedlings produce 3-4 true leaves, transplant them with a soil ball once or twice, which can promote a large number of lateral roots and prevent spindly growth. After transplanting the seedlings, spray Xin Gaozhi Mo, which can effectively prevent aboveground moisture from evaporating, prevent the seedling body from transpiring water, isolate pests and diseases, shorten the revival period, and raise the survival rate.

  Growth management:

  1. Cultivation and weeding, watering, fertilizing: After planting and revival, cultivation and weeding should be carried out to enhance soil permeability. After planting, it is best to water once every 7-10 days. Fertilizing does not need to be too frequent; apply thin manure water once every 2-3 weeks, cultivate once a month, and stop fertilizing after flowering. Spray Xin Gaozhi Mo to retain fertilizer and moisture.

  2. How can flowering be bright in color and fragrant? Spraying Huaduo Zhuangdiling at the bud stage can promote strong buds, plump petals, bright flower color, rich fragrance, and a longer flowering period.

  3. Pest and disease control: Diseases and pests mainly include leaf blight, chrysanthemum longhorn beetle, cotton aphid, Qichao, cutworm, green leafhopper and other diseases and pests. Pest and disease control should focus on prevention; spraying targeted pesticides plus Xin Gaozhi Mo greatly improves the effective ingredient rate of the pesticide, is not afraid of evaporation under the sun, can regulate water absorption, and prevents drought and rain damage.
