Alocasia (Dripping Guanyin) is an indoor foliage plant. Foliage plants have relatively large leaves, so their transpiration is stronger; with a high transpiration rate, more moisture is released into the air. Dry weather leaves everything in a state of water shortage, so keeping a pot of Alocasia at home this season means you can breathe moist air as soon as you get home. However, its sap is toxic, so keep it from dripping into the eyes or being swallowed by mistake, which can cause throat swelling or eye inflammation.

Alocasia (Dripping Guanyin) generally has 4 propagation methods, namely cuttings, sowing, division, and root division. For root division of Alocasia, you do not need to wait for its roots to grow large; you can divide the roots at any time during the growing season.

Root division propagation of Alocasia is very simple. You do not need to dig out the entire root; just dig out the offset near the main root with its roots attached and plant it into the potting soil. That is, dig out the small bulbs that naturally form and separate at the base of the Alocasia roots and plant them separately.

To avoid wound infection and rot, do not water too much after planting. After root division, place it in a cool, ventilated spot to prevent root rot. If you do not have fungicide, you can also treat it with plant ash. Do not place it in the blazing sun.

Cuttings generally will not die. After root division, wait until the wound heals before planting. However, the wound must be treated, preferably with a fungicide.

For Alocasia (Dripping Guanyin), after rooting, resume normal watering. Division can be used for propagation. Do not plant immediately; after rooting, restore normal light.
