In modern homes, there are always quite a few gardening friends who like to grow a few plants in pots at home. Not only can this beautify the environment, but when the flowers bloom, it can also bring people a sense of joy, and potted roses have become the first choice of many gardening friends.

Many gardening friends like to grow roses at home, and water cultivation is often an important method for everyone to grow roses. So, if growing them at home, how can water-cultivated roses be made to root quickly? In a previous article, the editor introduced the water propagation method for rose cuttings. Today, the editor will again focus on the illustrated process of the water rooting method for roses.

  1. Cutting the cuttings

To make rose cuttings root and survive quickly, the first thing to do well is to correctly cut the cuttings. When selecting cuttings, two conditions need to be met: the first thing we consider is that the selected branch is healthy and free of pests and diseases, and the second is a one-year-old semi-woody branch.

After selecting the cuttings, the next step is to cut them. When cutting, make sure each cutting is 7-12 cm long, and the tool used for cutting must be very sharp. Before pruning, disinfect the tool first, either by burning it with fire or wiping it with alcohol. Only after the tool has been disinfected can pruning be carried out. When pruning, it needs to be clean and neat, completed in one cut, keeping the cut surface smooth and flat.

  2. Treating the cuttings

Because rose branches usually have sharp thorns, it is recommended to wear special gloves when making cuttings to avoid the sharp thorns on the branches scratching your fingers. Use a tool to trim the wound at the base of the branch into a 45-degree slanted cut, increasing the rooting area as much as possible; just keep 2-3 leaves at the top of the cutting, and all the leaves on the lower part of the cutting need to be removed.

  3. Rooting tips

To help the branches achieve the effect of rapid rooting, we need to carry out some important treatments on the branches. First, soak the prepared cuttings in rooting liquid for a while, or dip some rooting powder onto the wound at the base of the cutting. Prepare the water solution for propagation; clean water is recommended, and rainwater, cooled boiled water, or tap water can be used. However, if tap water is used, it needs to be left to stand for 2-3 days before use. Then place the cuttings into a glass bottle filled with water for cultivation.

  4. Transplanting into pots

Soon, we will find that the cuttings in the bottle have already rooted. When the roots sprouting from the base of the rose cuttings reach 4-5 cm, we can transplant them into soil in pots for growing. As for how to ensure that the water-rooted rose roots are not damaged when potting and to improve the survival rate, the editor already explained the illustrated method for potting rose cuttings in the previous article, so I will not repeat it one by one here.

However, it needs to be emphasized that before potting, we need to prepare the growing soil in the flower pot. The soil is required to be loose, breathable, and well-draining, and before using this growing soil, first expose it to the sun to sterilize it. If some soil is casually taken for planting, it can easily induce various pathogens and molds, leading to rot and death of the plant.

After potting is completed, we only need to remember to water appropriately every day. Of course, according to the plant's growth condition, some liquid fertilizer can be sprayed appropriately to promote growth. As long as later care and management are proper, I believe that before long your potted roses at home will show a scene of abundant flowers and lush leaves.
