How long does it generally take for Lantana camara to bloom after cuttings?
Lantana camara likes a high-temperature and high-humidity growing environment, and is mostly propagated through cuttings. The cuttings used for lantana can be made from 1-year-old branches or from perennial old branches. Using these two types of branches as cuttings makes them both very easy to root, except that after the two are propagated separately, the blooming times differ slightly. So, how long does it take for lantana cuttings to bloom? This needs to be determined by the type of cutting used.

The best time to take lantana cuttings is in May during summer, but if the indoor temperature can be kept above 20°C in winter, cutting propagation can also be carried out. Generally, take healthy and robust 1-year-old lantana branches to make cuttings, using every two nodes as one section; keep 2 leaves on the upper node, remove the excess leaves, and then cut each of the two remaining leaves in half; remove all leaves from the lower node, then insert it into sandy soil.
To ensure the cuttings survive and to promote growth, after cutting, shade and film-covering measures should be taken to block light while also achieving warmth and moisture retention. After about 1 month or more, the cuttings will take root, and at the same time sprout and grow new shoots. In this case, we can pot and transplant the cuttings. Compared with propagation from old branches, young plants propagated from 1-year-old cuttings generally bloom relatively later.
So, what is the situation if perennial old branches are used for cuttings? Old-branch cuttings follow the same principle as 1-year-old cuttings, but the choice of cuttings is very different.
When using old branches for cuttings, you need to cut a whole healthy and robust branch with a good shape from the mother plant and propagate it directly. Unlike 1-year-old cuttings, old-branch cuttings do not require cutting the branch into sections; the entire branch is inserted directly into the growing medium. The advantage of old-branch cuttings is that shortly after the cuttings root, they can achieve their first bloom in the same year, and they will maintain the branch's original graceful shape.
