Potted snake plants have extremely high ornamental value, so many people prefer to grow them in pots. Moreover, like many flowering plants, snake plants can all be propagated into young plants by taking cuttings. The method is relatively simple, and if done correctly, the survival rate is also very high. So, when should snake plants be propagated by cuttings?

Snake plant cuttings are mostly taken in summer, with May to June being the most suitable period. But when using the cutting method, in addition to choosing the right time, the temperature environment is also very important, because their most suitable growing temperature is between 20-25°C, so we should adjust the cutting environment temperature to this range as much as possible.

After completing the cutting scientifically and reasonably according to the standard procedure, the cuttings usually need to be placed in a cool, ventilated spot for care in a timely manner. During this period, pay attention to adjusting the temperature and maintaining humidity suitable for sprouting, but they must not be washed by rain, otherwise the leaves of the snake plant are prone to rotting.

The rooting process of snake plant cuttings is often relatively slow. Even under normal care and management, the cuttings usually only begin to root and sprout after one month. So we need enough patience to wait. After the cuttings develop new roots, a large number of small shoots will gradually emerge after about 1-2 months, and only under suitable growing conditions will they slowly produce leaves and grow into small plants.

However, unlike many other potted flowering plants, snake plant cuttings are made from leaves, and each healthy leaf on a mature plant can usually be cut into 3 cuttings. After applying rooting powder below each cut and letting the wounds dry, insert them into clean sand. Note that the insertion depth in the sand should be appropriate, usually around 4 cm is better.

After rooting and sprouting, they can be placed in a position on the balcony where they can receive sufficient light for care. During this period, it is especially necessary to do a good job of moisture retention, and watering usually follows the principle of watering when dry and stopping when wet. In less than half a year, the snake plant cuttings will basically reach a growth height of more than 20 cm, because snake plants can often maintain good growth when the growing environment is suitable.
