Money tree cutting propagation methods: learn these few tricks and it grows fast
For potted flowering plants, cuttings are often a widely used method of propagating young plants. And cuttings can generally be done either in soil or in water, and some plants can even be propagated from leaf cuttings. But different plant varieties often root at different speeds after cutting, so the time needed to obtain young plants varies. If you want the cuttings to grow faster after propagation, the key is to speed up rooting. So how do you propagate a money tree from cuttings so it grows fast?

The money tree, as a plant that can be propagated both in water and in soil, often grows rather slowly from cuttings. From taking the cutting to obtaining a young plant ready to be transplanted into a pot, it often takes as long as half a year. To make it root quickly and sprout shoots, we need to rely on outside help to achieve this. And the most critical thing is to adopt a scientific method while applying supporting measures to make it happen.
Since water propagation of cuttings often has more advantages than soil propagation, especially in the rooting speed of cuttings, which is often faster. So we might as well try first rooting them quickly in water to produce young plants, and then transplant the young plants into pots for soil cultivation. That is roughly the idea, but specifically we still need to do every step well, otherwise it may all be wasted effort.
Before water propagation, we need to do all the preparatory work in advance, especially the materials and tools needed, which must be prepared sufficiently ahead of time. For example, a glass container with a bottle mouth, clean water, disinfectant, rooting solution, nutrient solution, scissors, money tree stems, etc. It should be noted that the money tree stems used for water propagation generally need to be kept at a length of more than 30 cm, and the stems need to have leaves.
Next, use scissors to cut the money tree stems into a length suitable for water propagation, then treat the wounds with a sterilizing and disinfecting agent, let them dry slightly, and then soak the base in rooting solution. Let the base of the cutting dry for a while, then insert the base of the money tree cutting into the glass container, and then pour in clean water. The water level line should preferably be kept at a depth of about 5 cm above the base of the stem.
During water propagation, be careful to avoid direct sunlight and keep the environment well ventilated, and of course the temperature should also be suitable. Although the most suitable growing temperature for the money tree is between 20°C-32°C, for water propagation it is generally more appropriate to keep the ambient temperature stable at 25°C. At the same time, during water propagation, do the water changing work well to ensure the water quality is clean, and each time you change the water you can drip in a few drops of nutrient solution to increase the nutrients in the water, thereby better promoting the rooting and sprouting of the money tree cuttings.
After a period of care and management, if all goes well, the base of the money tree cutting can sprout roots within a few weeks. As long as the later care and management work is done well, the plant will keep growing vigorously, and when the roots in the container have grown fairly abundant and can fully adapt to growing in a soil environment, we can take it out and transplant it into a pot with growing medium for planting.
Of course, we can also directly propagate young plants in soil, but if we want the cuttings to grow quickly, we likewise need to use a rooting agent, and it is recommended to insert the cuttings into moist sand for cultivation. Because sand, whether in drainage or water retention, is often quite good, and it is very loose and soft, the cuttings will grow better in it, so they will sprout faster, and it will be easier for us to obtain potted young plants.
