Edible Mushroom Varieties Suitable for High-Temperature Cultivation in Summer

There are quite a few edible mushroom varieties suitable for cultivation during high-temperature periods, but in recent years summer temperatures have remained high and climate change has been abnormal, which has brought many difficulties to production. Based on production experience in recent years, the edible mushrooms that can be cultivated during high-temperature periods include: straw mushroom, reishi mushroom, oyster mushroom, hairy wood ear, shaggy ink cap, high-temperature button mushroom, and other varieties.

1. The straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea) is a heat-tolerant variety. The suitable temperature for mycelial growth and development is 22°C-32°C, and the fruiting temperature is 24°C-35°C, so it can be cultivated from May to October. Cultivation substrates include wheat straw, rice straw, corn stalks, and spent mushroom substrate from edible mushroom cultivation.

2. Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) is a medicinal mushroom that is relatively tolerant of high temperatures. The mycelial growth and development temperature is 22°C-32°C, and the fruiting body growth and development temperature is 18°C-35°C. It can grow from April to October.

3. There are many varieties of oyster mushroom, and some heat-tolerant varieties can fruit normally during high-temperature periods. The high-temperature oyster mushrooms currently promoted mainly include Suyin No. 6, Yare No. 1, Fuyou No. 1, Gaowen No. 1, and other varieties, but disease and pest prevention should be emphasized during production.

4. The suitable growth temperature for hairy wood ear (Auricularia polytricha) mycelium is 22°C-28°C, and the fruiting body growth temperature is 15°C-32°C. Hairy wood ear can grow normally under certain conditions.

5. The shaggy ink cap (Coprinus comatus) is also a relatively heat-tolerant variety. The fruiting temperature is 10°C-34°C, and some varieties are relatively heat-tolerant and can still fruit at temperatures above 25°C.

6. High-temperature button mushrooms mainly refer to the meadow mushroom and the four-spored mushroom. Compared with the button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus), they have stronger resistance and are more heat-tolerant.

During high-temperature periods, edible mushroom producers in various regions can choose suitable varieties for cultivation according to local market demand and their own cultivation technical level, strengthen management, and improve mushroom-growing benefits.
