Causes of Continuous Cropping of Edible Fungi, Control Measures, and Introduction Notes
I. Causes of Continuous Cropping in Edible Fungi Cultivation
1. Facility environment pollution due to years of continuous edible fungi cultivation.
2. Incomplete disinfection and sterilization of mushroom sheds during use, especially for soil-cultivated edible fungi: incomplete soil treatment leaves soil-borne pathogens, facilities inside the shed carry pathogens, and the air carries pathogens, resulting in severe pest and disease outbreaks during continuous cropping of edible fungi.
3. Weak prevention awareness: in the first and second years of edible fungi cultivation, pests and diseases occurred only mildly and did not draw attention; contaminated bags were not treated promptly and were discarded everywhere, creating conditions for pathogen accumulation. Because management was lax and disinfection incomplete during production, pests entered the shed along with the growing substrate, causing pathogens to spread everywhere.
II. Control Methods
1. Clean up the environment: thoroughly clean up manure piles, haystacks, garbage, and other debris around the mushroom shed, and spray carbendazim-type fungicides for disinfection.
2. Disinfect inside the shed: spray or broadcast potassium permanganate or quicklime inside the shed; walls, all four sides, pillars, ventilation openings, etc. should also be sprayed with chemicals for disinfection, leaving no dead corners.
3. Sun-expose the shed: after fruiting ends, remove the shading materials and shed film, and use strong sunlight for prolonged exposure to kill pathogens inside the shed.
