Legend has it that in the vast Gobi Desert, there is a kind of stone that has grown for tens of millions of years. It is the crystallization of a plant. The seeds of this plant are naturally paired; after blooming, their roots and stems stay connected, and the flowers are like roses. If one of them dies, the other no longer blooms and slowly withers away... After countless years, their bodies and the sand crystallize into a peculiar flower, lifeless yet never fading, becoming the desert rose that symbolizes everlasting love.

Desert rose, also known as Tianbao flower, is a succulent plant, also called a fleshy plant. It prefers a high-temperature, dry environment with plenty of sunlight, tolerates intense heat but not cold, and gets its name "desert rose" because its place of origin is close to the desert and its flowers are red like roses. Its places of origin are Kenya and Tanzania in Africa. It is beautiful when in full bloom and is often cultivated for ornamental purposes.

Reasons for yellowing leaves of desert rose:

  1. Not long after purchase, it is in an adaptation period, and a small number of yellow leaves is very common.

  2. The flower pot is not breathable, and when the pot is large and the roots are small, avoid long-term moisture in the potting soil, which causes root rot.

  3. When the temperature is low, it enters a dormant period in winter, which means the leaves turn yellow and fall off, and it may even become completely bare.

  4. It is relatively drought-tolerant, so the amount of water given each time must not be too much. If there is too much water, it very easily causes root rot and results in yellow leaves.

  5. If the sunlight is too shaded, but also remember not to expose it to direct blazing sun, the leaves are also prone to turning yellow, and flowering will be affected.

  6. Poor ventilation and insufficient light will inevitably cause yellow leaves, and in severe cases the whole plant may rot and die.

  7. Too much fertilizer. Fertilizer should be applied in appropriate amounts, not excessively.

  8. If there are earthworms or wireworms (red spider mites, beetles) and other pests in the potting soil, yellow leaf symptoms will also appear.

  9. Damage from leaf spot disease and root rot disease. When leaf spot disease becomes severe, it can cause large numbers of leaves to drop.

  Solutions:

Special attention should be paid to the following: whether it is in the adaptation period or the dormant period, watering should be controlled and fertilizing should be suspended. Wait until spring, when a large number of new buds sprout, and then apply additional fertilizer according to the growth condition.

In winter, it can be placed in a sunny position, and the potting soil should be kept dry. The minimum temperature must not be lower than 8°C.

In other seasons, it can be placed in a sunny area. Do not keep it in a dark place for care, otherwise even if watering and fertilizing are normal, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off due to insufficient light.
