What to Do If Your Peace Lily Won't Bloom? Here's How to Get It to Flower More
Many plant lovers don't know why their peace lily won't bloom, because the peace lily is primarily a foliage plant, but some plant lovers are very eager to get theirs to bloom. Let's take a look below!
First, let's look at the peace lily's flowering period: under normal care, the peace lily blooms from May to August, and from the opening of the flower to its fading it lasts 4-5 weeks. Plant lovers should first determine whether their peace lily simply didn't bloom during its flowering period.

Although the peace lily is easy to grow, getting it to bloom continuously takes some extra effort. The following reasons can all cause a peace lily to grow only leaves without blooming:
1. Unsuitable light: long periods of too-dark light cause weak growth and make blooming difficult. But if sunlight is too strong or direct, the leaves may turn yellow.
2. No repotting: the peace lily grows relatively quickly, and generally after 1-2 years its plant will fill the pot, with crowded leaves that make blooming difficult. So it needs to be repotted in time; usually after repotting, a semi-shaded spot is more suitable.
3. Insufficient air humidity: it requires high humidity, and when the air is too dry it is unfavorable for blooming. Each watering should be thorough to keep the potting soil moist.
4. Lack of fertilizing: not fertilizing for a long time is unfavorable for healthy plant growth. During the growing period from May to September, apply some granular compound fertilizer each month, so it will both grow leaves and bloom.
5. Compacted soil: the peace lily requires loose, well-draining, humus-rich sandy loam soil to facilitate drainage and aeration.
To ensure the peace lily blooms successfully, here are several tips for growing it:
1. The pot's position must not be in strong light or weak light;
2. Each watering must be thorough, to ensure the nutrients needed for blooming. The interval between waterings: 3 to 4 days in summer; after 4 to 5 consecutive waterings it will bloom;
3. Fertilizing is a must; potassium dihydrogen phosphate will do, one yuan per bag.
4. Loosen the soil regularly to ensure the roots get aeration (be very careful not to damage the roots).
Methods to encourage the peace lily to bloom more:
1. Induced flowering promotion
The peace lily needs induction to bloom. One month before flowering, spray gibberellic acid to artificially induce blooming, though different varieties bloom at different times. Note that too high a concentration of gibberellic acid will cause the plant's flowers to become deformed; generally a dilution of 1000-1500 times is sufficient.
2. Strengthen routine care
Place the plant in a bright spot for care, pay attention to watering in time, and ensure air humidity. From April to May, frequently sprinkle water around the plant to raise the relative humidity, and fertilize once a month. Before flowering, appropriately increase the amount of fertilizer to ensure enough nutrients for blooming.
3. Repot into a larger pot in time
The peace lily's leaves grow quickly, so repot and loosen the soil in time according to its growth. Every year in early spring, give the peace lily a larger pot and replace the soil with loose soil. After repotting, place the plant in a shaded spot for 1 week, then resume normal care. When the plant's branches and leaves are too dense and the ratio of plant to pot is 3:1, it needs to be repotted in time. For potted plants that grow very quickly, repotting can be done in autumn.
