The goldfish plant has bloomed, and each little fish mouth is so adorable. Some plant lovers might ask, when will mine bloom? That's not certain. In theory, it can bloom in any season except summer, so don't worry. Once this hot weather passes, it can bloom at any time. All we need to do is let it grow strong and sturdy. Only when the plant is large will it produce more flowers.

The goldfish plant typically blooms in spring and summer, with a long flowering period. Before it blooms in winter, it is best to give it appropriate sunlight exposure, placing it on a balcony or by a window, which will make the flowers bloom more vividly and abundantly. Its seedlings do not bloom in the first year; only after two or three years will you see orange-red flowers emerging from the leaf axils at the tips of the trailing branches.

To grow a plant well, we first need to understand its habits. The goldfish plant prefers a cool, dry environment, and has a short dormant period in winter. The goldfish plant is most averse to being kept in a stuffy, enclosed environment. If the growing environment lacks circulating air, the leaves will gradually wilt and turn yellow, and growth will be inhibited.

In regions with a plum rain season in summer, where temperatures are high and humidity is great, be sure to pay attention to ventilation, as the plant can easily rot due to excessive moisture. Also, most importantly, light must be sufficient.

With these points ensured, water so that the soil dries out between waterings. Give some compound fertilizer appropriately, prevent pests and diseases well, and after a summer passes, the plant will surely grow a size larger. The specific care points are as follows:

Soil: Usually use sphagnum moss, fern roots, bark chunks, etc. as a mixed substrate, then choose coarse-grained stones to place at the bottom of the pot, and add a small amount of leaf mold mixed with perlite as the growing medium.

Light: Apart from needing fairly sufficient sunlight in winter, the goldfish plant should be given more shade in the other seasons and placed in a cool, ventilated environment, receiving plenty of scattered light.

Temperature: The suitable growing temperature for the goldfish plant is 18-22°C, and it dislikes low temperatures. When the temperature is below 10°C, the leaves will turn yellow, dry out, and even drop off. During high summer temperatures, appropriate shading measures should be taken to keep it growing vigorously without dropping leaves.

Fertilizing: During the growing period, apply a diluted organic fertilizer solution once every 1-2 weeks; before flowering, increase phosphorus fertilizer; do not fertilize during flowering; after the flowers fade, apply more nitrogen-containing fertilizer.

Watering: It has a relatively high water requirement. Water more in spring, summer, and autumn, and spray the surrounding ground with clean water. Never splash water on the leaves. During high summer temperatures, it is best to place the flower pot in a shallow tray filled with water.
