Many gardening friends encounter yellow leaves in the early stages of growing lucky bamboo, and even with frequent water changes and removal of yellow leaves, it often still does not help. Actually, as long as we observe carefully, we can often spot some clues, and by following these traces we can find the causes of and solutions for yellow leaves on lucky bamboo.

Usually, the causes of problems with lucky bamboo are mostly poor light and temperature conditions and improper water and fertilizer management. But few people would think that if the lucky bamboo root system has few roots and they are too short, it can also easily lead to yellow leaves. Below, the editor will explain the hydroponic method for making water-grown lucky bamboo root quickly without yellow leaves.

1. Cut off yellow leaves

Before placing the selected lucky bamboo plant in water, cut off all yellow leaves flush with the base first, so as not to affect later growth.

2. Trim the base

After we cut off the yellow leaves of the lucky bamboo, next we also need to treat the root area. Use sterilized sharp scissors to trim the base at a 45-degree angle, which can increase the contact area between the cut surface and the water, making it easier for the plant to absorb nutrients.

3. Add rooting solution

In addition to adding an appropriate amount of clean water to the bottle, you also need to add a small amount of rooting solution and mix it evenly.

4. Shading treatment

After placing the plant inside, we need to use a black light-blocking bag to cover the lower part of the bottle until the base is completely covered, which can ensure the lucky bamboo sprouts roots faster.

5. Care and management

For lucky bamboo grown by water cuttings, it is recommended to keep it indoors for care and management, and it is suitable to place it in a warm, ventilated, bright spot, but direct sunlight should be avoided. Insufficient light will inhibit rooting, easily cause yellow leaves, and lead to poor growth.

We need to note that water-grown lucky bamboo should have its water changed frequently before rooting, and it is recommended to change the water every 3-5 days. After rooting, there is no need to change the water for a short period; simply replenish the water in the container appropriately. Of course, when changing the water after rooting, you can add a few drops of nutrient solution, which is more conducive to growth.

In addition, in summer under high-temperature and dry weather, good moisture retention work is needed. You can spray water on the leaf surface, and at the same time spray water on the surrounding ground to increase air humidity. In winter, pay attention to keeping warm to prevent the plant from frostbite.
