It is now deep winter, and many plant enthusiasts are worrying about frostbite appearing on their money trees (Pachira aquatica). Indeed, after all, the money tree does not have strong cold resistance. If winter care and management work is not done properly, it can easily lead to frostbite, and in severe cases, it may even freeze to death!

Frost damage in money trees generally occurs in winter or early spring when the temperature is too low, and relatively speaking, the leaves and roots are the most prone to frost damage. Of course, once frostbite occurs, there is no need to panic. As long as you think calmly, respond calmly, and take timely measures, it can generally still be saved.

  The steps are as follows:

  1. Once you find that your potted money tree has suffered frostbite, you first need to promptly move the pot to a warm place indoors, ensuring the temperature stays at around 10-plus degrees, to avoid further aggravation of the frostbite.

  2. Next, you need to carefully check the degree of frostbite on the plant. If only a small number of leaves have been frostbitten, generally spraying the leaves with naphthaleneacetic acid butyl ester and gibberellin solution is enough, but if combined with root drenching using agents such as naphthaleneacetic acid, the effect is even better. However, it is recommended to do this once every 3 days. After the plant's young leaves sprout, you can change to once a week. Generally, doing this 5-6 times is enough for basic recovery.

  3. If the roots of your potted money tree have suffered frost damage, you can generally water it with a diluted solution of ethylic manganese wettable powder. After that, place the pot in a warm and dry place to rest quietly, and wait for it to gradually resume growth.

Not only does the money tree have weak cold resistance, but many other potted plants also do not have strong cold resistance, so in winter you must take careful care, especially doing a good job of keeping them warm and protecting them from the cold, to avoid unnecessary frost damage. Of course, even if some frost damage occurs, there is no need to panic. Take emergency measures in time, and then care for them carefully. It is believed that recovery is still possible.
