Cyclamen blooms are bright and delicate. Although it is quite suitable as an indoor potted plant and also has high ornamental value and the ability to purify indoor air, it must not be neglected in care and management. This is because cyclamen has a “bad temper” and likes a clean growing environment; once the care environment is unsuitable, it easily “throws a tantrum”.

And so, before you know it, it shows signs of yellowing leaves. So, what is going on when a potted cyclamen's leaves turn yellow? Like many other flowering plants, yellowing leaves are inevitably caused by an unsuitable growing environment. It is just that cyclamen is more delicate than ordinary flowering plants, so once the leaves turn yellow, it often shows up even more prominently.

After analysis, it was found that when a potted cyclamen shows yellowing leaves, there are usually two situations. Below, the editor will briefly explain these two situations, and then, according to the cause, take timely remedial measures to let it shine again.

1. A few leaves show yellowing over a long period

This phenomenon mainly occurs due to long-term lack of light for the potted plant or lack of nutrients in the pot. If it is a potted cyclamen newly bought from the market, the seller usually takes good care of it, so there will not be a nutrient deficiency. Therefore, it is mostly caused by lack of light. So we should think about it and take a look to see whether our own potted cyclamen belongs to the latter case.

If sufficient light has not been provided to the cyclamen for a long time, we should promptly improve its lighting conditions, promptly move it to a place where it can fully receive light, and at the same time keep ventilation smooth. After all, cyclamen is a plant that quite likes light; the more sufficient the light during the flowering period, the brighter the flower color will become, and the more splendid the blooms. Moreover, when light is sufficient, the number of flowers and leaves will increase, the potted plant will look more lush, and its ornamental value will be higher.

2. A large number of leaves show yellowing within a short period

If this is the case, the problem seems to be much more troublesome, so we should also pay more attention to it. First, we need to check whether the cyclamen's tuber in the pot is abnormal, especially whether rot has occurred. If rot has really occurred and is fairly advanced, then we can only prepare for its end, because the plant is basically not worth saving.

Second, check whether the environmental temperature is too high. Cyclamen is rather delicate; if the environmental temperature is too high and too hot, it easily enters a dormant state, and its leaves are also very prone to withering and yellowing, accompanied by the falling off of flowers and leaves. Therefore, if the plant's growing environment is found to have too high a temperature, ventilation conditions should be improved immediately, and necessary cooling measures should be taken at the same time.

Cyclamen itself is not tolerant of high temperatures; when the summer exceeds 30°C, it stops growing. And during the flowering period when the temperature is relatively low, if the growing environment temperature is too high, poor growth will also occur. Usually during the flowering period, keeping the environmental temperature at around 15°C is more suitable. If the temperature exceeds 20°C, yellowing leaves are likely to occur. So if the indoor temperature is too high, we need to promptly improve the temperature conditions.
