Potted Peperomia has high ornamental value and can be paired with a variety of home decors, simple yet novel. But routine care and management work is very important, especially management after the beginning of winter. Because when winter temperatures are low, Peperomia often enters a dormant state, which is also the plant's self-protection and rest behavior. Not only the dormant period, but the entire winter requires good care; only when it successfully overwinters can it better resume growth the following year. So how should potted Peperomia be cared for after the beginning of winter?

In winter, low temperature is one of the most important factors restricting the growth of potted Peperomia. In our country, temperatures in the south and north often differ considerably, so in terms of keeping warm and protecting against the cold, the northern regions, with their lower temperatures, generally need stronger measures to ensure a safe and smooth overwintering. But whether south or north, as soon as the outdoor temperature drops to around 13°C, it should promptly be moved indoors to a bright place for care.

But if in southern regions the outdoor temperature can stay above 13°C, generally it can be kept outdoors. However, you must keep track of temperature changes at all times to decide whether it is necessary to move it indoors. But in northern regions, outdoor temperatures are basically below this 13°C threshold, so throughout winter it needs to be moved indoors without hesitation. At the same time, considering that extreme cold weather easily occurs in northern regions, when temperatures are too low, indoor heating and warmth measures also need to be strengthened.

Usually in southern regions, indoor temperatures under natural conditions sometimes struggle to reach 13°C, so we likewise need to take necessary warmth measures. If in southern regions the pot is placed outdoors, to ensure the plant does not suffer frostbite or freeze to death, we can keep it warm and moist by bagging the Peperomia pot or covering it with protective film. But when the temperature rises around noon, the bag or protective film usually needs to be removed promptly to allow ventilation and air exchange. This is quite beneficial for the plant's growth.

Of course, in winter watering must be strictly controlled and fertilizing stopped completely, to avoid frostbite or root rot caused by improper water and fertilizer management. If the potted Peperomia is kept indoors throughout winter, it is recommended to place it near a windowsill or other bright spot so the plant can receive scattered light, carry out normal photosynthesis and promote growth. But if heating or air conditioning is on, the pot should be placed away from the air outlet. Also, indoor air in winter is often quite dry, so you can spray water appropriately to raise environmental humidity, which benefits the plant's growth.
