Spider plants not only have extremely high ornamental value but also have the ability to purify the air. They are a very high-quality green plant, ideal for placing or hanging in indoor environments as potted plants. But many gardening friends complain that their potted spider plants have been growing for a long time yet grow slowly and still don't bloom. So what should you do when a spider plant grows slowly and doesn't bloom?

When growing spider plants in pots at home, besides creating a suitable growing environment for them, your care and management methods must also be scientific; otherwise the plant may grow rather slowly and find it hard to bloom. Today, the editor will share with you the care and management methods for spider plants, making sure the plant both grows vigorously and blooms smoothly on schedule.

1. The potting soil must have good permeability

Spider plants rather like growing in potting soil that is half moist and half dry, but if the soil quality is too poor and the permeability is bad, the potting soil will gradually become compacted after a long time. After heavy watering, the roots of the spider plant will have difficulty breathing, and the roots' ability to absorb nutrients will be reduced. When the plant does not get sufficient nutrients, its growth naturally becomes slow, and blooming becomes even more impossible.

2. Water promptly and don't let it go short of water

Spider plants like a moist growing environment, and normally it is enough to keep the potting soil half dry and half moist. But usually this half-dry, half-moist state means the plant's water requirements are very strict. If the humidity is not enough, it will not only affect the plant's normal growth but also inhibit blooming. Therefore, you must water promptly and avoid letting it go short of water. But generally you don't need to pour large amounts of water; combining ordinary watering with misting is more scientific.

3. Provide a suitable temperature

Spider plants grow best in a temperature environment of 20°C-24°C, and under such temperature conditions the plant's growth is at its most vigorous. Therefore, during care and management you must regulate the temperature well and keep it as stable as possible between 20°C-24°C, so as to ensure that the plant blooms while maintaining vigorous growth.

4. Topdressing must be sufficient

Spider plants rather like fertilizer, but generally organic fertilizer is suitable for topdressing them, especially during the growing season and before blooming, when we should provide sufficient fertilizer. Only when the plant has accumulated sufficient nutrients can the spider plant obtain enough energy to bloom smoothly.

If you find that your potted spider plant is growing rather slowly and the plant has not bloomed for a long time, then you may as well handle it according to the aspects above. I believe that as long as you provide a suitable growing environment for the spider plant according to these aspects, plus scientific care, the plant will be able to resume normal growth and bloom on schedule.
