The peace lily (Spathiphyllum) originates from tropical rainforests and has relatively high humidity requirements for its growing environment. If the air is relatively dry and the soil in the pot has low moisture, the plant's leaves will droop. So what should you do when peace lily leaves droop and turn yellow?

If we encounter a potted peace lily with drooping leaves, there is no need to worry too much. As long as we handle it calmly, there is usually still hope of getting the leaves to stretch out and stand upright again. Generally, place the peace lily promptly in a cool, ventilated spot, such as a bathroom or another relatively small but fairly humid space, for care.

If the humidity in the spot where it is placed is low, then we can also artificially spray the plant with water more often, especially misting around the plant to retain moisture. Generally, after leaving it for 1-2 hours, we then place the pot in a basin filled with water to soak, with the water depth at about half the height of the flower pot.

Note that the pot should not be left soaking in the water basin for too long, generally about 10 minutes is enough. Otherwise, water may flow back into the pot for too long, which can easily cause water to accumulate in the pot and inhibit the respiration of the peace lily's roots, which is very unfavorable for the plant's growth.

Next, take the pot out of the water basin and continue to place it back in the previous cool, ventilated environment to let it slowly recover. Generally, after a night, the previously drooping leaves of the peace lily will gradually stretch out and resume normal growth. After that, we can manage it according to normal care methods.

But if the peace lily's leaves remain wilted for too long, it is relatively easy to cause permanent damage to the plant, and at this point the plant will show yellowing leaves. However, this phenomenon is also relatively common, and at this point we only need to cut off such leaves.

Therefore, even if the peace lily's leaves have turned yellow and withered, as long as we adopt scientific handling methods, we can likewise get it to gradually resume growth. And as new leaves keep growing and old leaves keep stretching out, we only need to manage it according to normal care methods.
