How to prevent root rot in money trees? Doing these few things well is key
The biggest fear when growing a money tree is root rot, because after root rot the plant shows many poor growth symptoms such as yellowing branches and leaves and leaf drop. So how can we ensure a potted money tree goes years without root rot, while also growing thick, sturdy roots and very plump, green leaves that easily fill the pot?

Actually, we can use a very good material that is also very easy to obtain, and that is charcoal. Because charcoal has strong adsorption capacity, burying it at the bottom of the pot of a potted money tree can not only absorb and retain water, but also increase the looseness and air permeability of the potting soil.
Perhaps some friends will say that although charcoal is good, ordinary households do not have it, so what can be done? In fact, there is another thing with an effect similar to charcoal, and that is mosquito coil ash. That is to say, after mosquito coils burn into ash, collect the remaining ash and put it into the pot, and it can play a role similar to charcoal, and it can also have a sterilizing and disinfecting effect! It can very well prevent the plant from being infected by pests and diseases.
The method of using mosquito coil ash is also very simple: after collecting it, pour it into clean water and stir evenly. Then soak the potted money tree, especially a newly bought money tree, in the mosquito coil ash water solution for about 30 minutes, and then plant it in a pot. The sterilizing and disinfecting effect it achieves can even be better than a carbendazim solution.
Of course, if the money tree is already potted, we can also directly sprinkle the collected mosquito coil ash onto the surface of the potting soil, which can play a role in preventing pest and disease invasion. With this, the money tree can safely and freely grow roots and leaves, and before long the plant will grow with lush branches and green leaves.
Sometimes, poor control of watering may cause overwatering, and in this case it is relatively easy to cause root rot in the money tree. So after watering, sprinkle a layer of mosquito coil ash on the surface of the money tree's potting soil, which can very well absorb the excess water in the pot, and then we just pour out the damp mosquito coil ash.
If the amount of water is indeed too much, then we can use mosquito coil ash to repeat the above method several times until there is no standing water in the pot and the humidity of the potting soil is suitable. In this way, root rot in the money tree can be very well prevented. Moreover, this method is simple to operate and can save the trouble of repotting and changing the soil due to overwatering.
