  The bamboo-like posture is elegant, with slender, soft branches, distinct layers, and orderly heights, and the cloud-like foliage pads are elegant and unique, making it popular with people. If the asparagus fern is designed and composed into a bonsai displayed on a balcony or indoors, it appears even more beautiful and peaceful, adding a lot of pleasure to life. Below are the key points for making an asparagus fern bonsai.

  1. Materials

  ① Select a 56cm irregular-shaped white marble shallow pot and its matching stand;

  ② Select two asparagus ferns just over 10cm tall and growing well, and one asparagus fern about 20cm tall;

  ③ Select two rocks only about 10cm tall;

  ④ Select several horse and sheep accessories of different sizes;

  ⑤ An appropriate amount of potting soil and moss.

  2. Styling

  Take the 3 asparagus ferns out of their cultivation clay pots or small plastic pots, and remove half of the old potting soil. First spread a thin layer of potting soil on the surface of the white marble shallow pot, plant the tallest asparagus fern at the right end of the pot with its curved branches and leaves facing left, plant the second tallest asparagus fern not far to the left of the first asparagus fern and appropriately near the back edge of the pot, then plant the shortest asparagus fern at the boundary between the 1/3 and 2/3 length of the pot, with its curved branches and leaves also facing left, so that the orientation of the three asparagus ferns is coordinated and unified. Then look from afar and close up, and adjust the position of the asparagus ferns in the pot until it is natural and beautiful.

  3. Placing stones and laying moss

  The branches of the asparagus fern are slender and curved, which is an expression of softness, and the surroundings of the irregular white marble pot are also curved, so this landscape has more than enough softness and not enough masculine strength. A superior landscape must combine hardness and softness. At an appropriate position toward the right rear on the pot surface, place two upright rocks; the rocks are hard and their left and right side lines are straight, which is an expression of hardness. On the potting soil on the pot surface, lay a layer of moss to achieve a greening artistic effect. Spray clean water onto the asparagus ferns and moss, and moisten the potting soil.
