Fruit tree bonsai often have a different ornamental effect from ordinary bonsai; they have a bit more vitality and liveliness than ordinary bonsai, rather than being so solemn and mature. When a fruit tree bonsai has too many branches, it easily causes the tree's nutrients to be dispersed. Therefore, before the fruit tree buds in spring, crossing branches, overlapping branches, and the like should be pruned away, and its pruning and care measures should be done well.

  Preparing the potting soil:

Generally, take 4 parts matured garden soil, 2 parts river sand, and 1 part plant ash, mix them thoroughly and evenly, then crush them finely and sift.

The potting soil should be disinfected before use; generally, mixing in a small amount of sulfur powder and blending evenly is enough.

Each time you repot and change the soil, you can replace it with a suitable pot according to the fruit tree's growth rate, the size of the root ball, and the shaping needs.

  Repotting:

Because the nutrients in the potting soil will be absorbed by the fruit tree or leached away by frequent watering, it needs to be repotted once every two or three years in good time, replacing it with new nutrient soil.

After the old soil ball is turned upside down out of the pot, the old roots on the surface of the soil ball and the large roots that affect its shaping should be cut off.

When potting, first mix organic fertilizer with nutrient soil and fill the bottom, then pot it with the soil ball, and fill the surrounding area with potting soil mixed with fertilizer. The pH value of the potting soil is generally between 4.5 and 7.5.

According to the requirements of different tree species, prepare different nutrient soils rich in organic matter, preferably sandy loam rich in humus.
