Rose cutting propagation method and detailed steps

Roses are plants that can be propagated by cuttings. So you can try cutting off a flower that is about to wilt, then trim away the branches and leaves, keep a branch with a viable leaf bud, cut it at an angle, insert it into soil, and place it in a shady spot, watering it on time. A rose that survives will gradually grow its leaves, and once it reaches about 5 leaves, it has taken root.

Tips for propagating roses by cuttings. Other similar flowers and trees can also be propagated by cuttings using a potato. It can be done in just three simple steps:

First, choose plump, disease-free branches, cut the cuttings into a shape of 10-15CM with a slanted bottom and a flat top, using about three nodes per section, and be careful to smooth the wound with a sharp blade.

Then, before cutting, if necessary, soak the base of the stem in a growth-hormone-type medicine, then insert it into the growing medium, and after the roots are about 2—3cm long, it can be transplanted.

Finally, after cutting, be sure to provide shade, and after 10-15 days the cuttings can gradually be exposed to sunlight.

  Specific method/steps:

  1. First cut off the rose stem, as shown in the picture.

  2. Then remove all the leaves from the rose stem to prevent loss of nutrients and water.

  3. Then insert the rose stem into a potato, as shown in the picture.

  4. Then bury it in the soil, as shown in the picture.

  5. Finally put it in the soil, step on the soil, and leave part of the rose stem exposed, as shown in the picture.

  6. After it sprouts and grows, it will be this beautiful.

Cuttings should be cut in the morning when the dew has not yet dried. Remove the leaves from the part of the flower branch that will be in water to prevent rot, and insert it into water immediately after cutting, so that excessive water loss does not affect the vase life of the cut flowers. For flower branches with a lot of sap, such as poinsettia, do not insert them into water immediately after cutting. Instead, hold the cut surface over the flame of a candle or alcohol lamp until it is scorched, then cut off a little of the scorched part, then disinfect it and rinse it with clean water, and finally insert it into water, to prevent wilting from excessive sap loss.
