How do you plant strawberry seeds in a flower pot? Pot sowing method
As people's living standards improve, potted flowering plants are entering more and more households. Especially in recent years, potted strawberries have become very popular. For individuals, there are always many people who try to propagate young plants by sowing seeds in flower pots. And strawberry seeds do not have their own obvious dormancy period, so even if you wait a while before sowing, they can still sprout. But how do you plant strawberry seeds in a flower pot?

Propagating young plants by sowing and then growing potted strawberries generally requires several steps: sprouting, sowing, raising seedlings, transplanting, and care. As long as everyone can do these steps well, we can harvest the joy of success as we wish. Below, the editor will share with you the process of growing potted strawberries from seed.
1. Sprouting
To increase the germination rate, before sowing we usually need to soak the strawberry seeds to sprout them. Soaking generally takes one day, and sprouting should be kept at a low temperature of 0-3°C for about 2 weeks. Of course, other methods can also be used for sprouting, which will not be described in detail here.
2. Sowing
Because strawberry seeds are relatively small, sowing should be done very carefully. The recommended practice is to sow with the help of a seedling tray, or use seedling blocks together with a seedling box. If you find this process too troublesome or do not have the conditions, you can mix some fine sand with humus, put it into a flower pot, and sow directly in the growing soil.
3. Raising seedlings
During the seedling-raising period, we mainly do a good job of water and fertilizer management and weeding. Original: During the seedling stage, a large amount of irrigation is not needed; water can be provided by spraying, and when the seedlings grow 6 true leaves, they can be appropriately watered with a small amount of water. At the same time, the first fertilization can be carried out, and urea can be used as a top dressing. During this period, weeding should be done in a timely manner. Only by doing these aspects well can we ensure that our strawberry seedlings remain robust in growth.
4. Transplanting
After the seedlings have grown for 3-4 months, we can transplant the seedlings into pots. However, it is recommended that transplanting into pots be done in July-August each year, which is more suitable, and they will bloom and bear fruit the following spring. Consistent with the method mentioned above, when strawberries produce a large number of runners, they should be removed in a timely manner. On the one hand, this avoids a messy plant shape, and on the other hand, it affects flowering and fruiting.
5. Care
During the care period, the main tasks are managing light, temperature, water, and fertilizer. Since strawberries like light, we should provide them with sufficient light conditions as much as possible; when the temperature is low in autumn and winter, timely measures should be taken to keep them warm and protect against cold, so as to avoid the plants being frostbitten; in order to promote fruit set, in addition to keeping up with water and fertilizer, attention should also be paid to weeding, pest control, and other treatments, and yellowed and withered leaves should be pruned off in a timely manner.
