What are the winter care techniques and precautions for wintersweet?
Although it blooms in winter, the plum blossom kept in winter needs good protection. If you do not care for it, how can you continue to watch the plum blossoms the following year? You can learn its maintenance techniques well. There are also some things to pay attention to. The following editor introduces the winter care techniques and precautions for wintersweet, and hopes everyone will enjoy them.
Reasons to carefully maintain winter plum
Winter is the main stage for plum blossoms, when the goose-yellow flowers are unfolding and the delicate fragrance is refreshing, making people love it. Of course, winter care also requires special attention.
The plum itself is a cold-tolerant plant, so winter is easier for it, but this is not to say that the plum does not need care in winter, and the plum still needs careful attention in winter.
Winter feather maintenance techniques
One of the keys to keeping wintersweet in winter is temperature. Cold-tolerant plants also have their own limits, and the plum is no exception. In winter it is better to keep the temperature no lower than -15°C, and when flowering, no lower than -10°C.
Another key point of wintersweet winter protection is fertilizing. Throughout winter and spring, the plum needs normal fertilizing. Normal fertilizing in winter can promote more luxuriant flowers on the plum, and better growth of branches and leaves next spring. For fertilizing, some compound fertilizer can be applied, and it is better to dilute it.
Please note that cold wind sometimes occurs in winter. Wintersweet is a plant that is more afraid of wind. In winter it is better to take some windproof measures.
Precautions for wintersweet winter care
Winter is an important season for plum blossoms to bloom. If you want the flowers to bloom well and abundantly, measures should be taken in time. Leaving the plum pot outside for a long time can prolong the flowering time of the plum; putting the plum outside during the day and moving it indoors at night makes the flowers bloom faster.
After the flowers fade, the plum must be pruned in time.

The time for plum cuttings
The cuttings of plum are different from those of other flowers; it is better to do it in winter, and you can choose to cut before flowering in December.
How to take cuttings?
Choose a strong wintersweet branch, open the base of the plum, and cut 1 to 3-year-old branches, 1 cm in diameter or more. According to your own needs, you can cut more than 5 to 10 branches.
Storing the waxy branches
Cut off the lower end of the branch, about 20 cm long, and smooth the cut end. Then, bundle them and spray with water, wrap them in a semi-moist plastic bag to keep them semi-moist, and place them in a dark place at room temperature of 12°C to 16°C.
The cutting method for wintersweet
After 20 days, part of the plum cut shows a bulge and appears white. When the branches also sprout, they can be cut.
For a small number, you can choose a deeper flower pot. You can choose pure coarse sand. When operating, first make a hole in the wet sand with a small wooden stick, then put the cuttings into the hole and bury them. After all are inserted, pour water once.
After transplanting the plum, carry out pruning
Whether cutting in a flower pot or in a sand bed, after completion it should be protected with plastic film, and it should be placed in a room with light and a temperature no lower than 12°C.
At home, it can be placed on a heated sunny windowsill. Watering should not be done; it should be done when half-dry. Strengthen management after cutting. Spraying a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once a day for about 10 days is beneficial for rooting. In spring, the pot can be moved outdoors into the sun. When the sun is too strong, move it to half shade and gradually remove the plastic film.
