One hope in growing potted bonsai is that it can grow luxuriantly and become satisfying. On the other hand, you want to make it compact, attractive and beautiful, with a good overall appearance. Therefore, during growth, continuous pruning is needed. How do you prune bonsai?

1. Pruning time. You can choose winter or early spring, but when pruning in winter, note that some seemingly dead branches are actually full of vigor, while crape myrtle and eucalyptus are not suitable for winter pruning. After spring ends, azaleas and plums are better pruned.

2. Bonsai pruning methods. For some branches, do not rush to prune; it is better to let them become woody after more than a year and then prune. Otherwise it will affect the shape of growth.

3. Bonsai pruning techniques. There is balanced pruning and unbalanced pruning, as well as leaf pruning, long branch pruning, extra lychee, etc. The trimmed shapes are slanting, cliff-style, and so on.

4. After pruning, add water and apply topdressing in time, fertilize once, then pour water once. Prompt it to become stronger.
