Dear friends, have you ever seen the gloxinia? The editor thinks it is also a very good plant. Look, this is a photo of the gloxinia. How about it, isn't it very beautiful? It also has a name called "Luoxuanni" (Sinningia). I don't know how much you know about it. Let's take a look with the editor.

Propagation methods for gloxinia:

1. Sowing and propagation of gloxinia

Gloxinia can be propagated by sowing. It can be done in spring and autumn. Before sowing, soak the seeds for 24 hours to promote germination. Fill a shallow pot or wooden box with a growing medium mixed with humus soil, garden soil and fine sand. After leveling the soil, scatter the seeds evenly. After moistening from the bottom of the pot, cover the top with glass. Under humidity conditions of 18-20°C, seedlings emerge after about 10 days. After emergence, let them gradually see the sun. When the seedlings grow 3-4 true leaves, plant them in small pots.

2. Bulb division propagation of gloxinia

Gloxinia can be propagated by the bulb division method. Choose dormant 2- to 3-year-old bulbs. In autumn or from December to March of the following year, first immerse the soil and keep it at a room temperature of 22°C for germination. When the sprouts grow to about 0.5 cm, dig out the bulbs and cut them into 2 to 4 pieces with a sharp knife; each piece must have a sprout, and the cuts are coated with ash to prevent rotting. Each piece is planted in one pot, forming a new plant.

3. Branch cutting propagation of gloxinia

The branch cutting propagation method is also a common propagation method for gloxinia. These branches often sprout on the stems of gloxinia. When cutting, cut 2-3 cm long sections and insert them into fine sand or expanded perlite substrate. Keep them in a shaded place and avoid sunlight. Keep the room temperature at 18-20°C, and roots form in 15 days.

Leaf cutting propagation of gloxinia

For leaf propagation of gloxinia, choose leaves with strong growth and development, and remove the leaves from the petioles. Cut the leaves in half, insert the petioles obliquely into a moist sand substrate, cover with glass and shade them, and keep them at a room temperature of 25°C and high air humidity after inserting the petiole base for 20 days to produce callus tissue. After moving them into small pots, they grow into small plants. In the same year, only small bulbs are formed, and after dormancy, new shoots emerge from the bulbs. After a period of cultivation, from June to July of the following year, the flowers bloom.

5. Bud cutting propagation of gloxinia

Bud cutting is also a common propagation method for gloxinia. It is usually carried out in spring. When the bulbs sprout from 4 cm to 6 cm, the extra buds sprouting from the base are inserted into a sand bed and kept at a certain humidity. After a period of cultivation, they bloom from June to July of the following year.

Gloxinia has a strong growth capacity and can use many propagation methods. It is also very easy to care for. If you also have several pots of gloxinia, it is believed that it will produce very good results.
