Cineraria is a greenhouse flower, and potted plants are used as indoor decoration. Its flowering period is very early, making it especially precious in winter. The flowers are rich and colorful, especially the blue flowers, which have a velvety sheen and are elegant and charming. How do you cultivate it in pots? Here is the method for growing potted cineraria for everyone, let's take a good look at it.

Cultivation methods for potted cineraria

1. Potted soil

Potted soil is important when cultivating. It is usually mixed with garden soil, humus soil, compost soil, etc., and an appropriate amount of base fertilizer can be used to meet its pre-growth needs.

2. Potting up

When its seedlings grow two leaves, at this point we should transplant it into a shallow pot, and choose to mix cultivation soil and fine sand into the pot, placing 3 plants per pot. When it grows to 40 days, the seedlings have already grown 4 to 5 leaves, and we can move it to a larger bowl along with some soil. Then pour in water, place it in a shady spot, and give it full sunlight at the appropriate time.

3. Lighting

This is very satisfying. When it is used for maintenance, it should be exposed to sunlight as much as possible. This can not only make the flower crown neat, but also enhance its disease resistance, thereby preventing pest problems. If there is insufficient light, it will look unattractive and affect its ornamental value. In addition, while enjoying the sunlight, you should also pay attention to turning the flowerpot from time to time to prevent it from growing on one side.

4. Temperature

When growing it, the temperature should not be too high. When the temperature exceeds 15 degrees, it will start to grow, so we should control the temperature between 7 and 10 degrees as much as possible, and always keep it ventilated.

5. Fertilizing

At the beginning of planting, it can be fertilized every 7 to 10 days, and the fertilizer is usually based on organic fertilizer. After 100 days of planting, it needs to be sprayed with water on the leaf surface, and fertilized every 10 to 15 days. This will make the flower buds differentiate and bring out the color positively.

How to grow cineraria

1. It should be planted from late August to early October. When the seedlings grow 2~3 true leaves, transplant them once, and when they grow 4~5 leaves, transplant them again.

2. When the seedlings grow 5 leaves, remove the terminal bud to promote the sprouting of side buds, usually keeping 3 to 4 side buds. During the growth period, axillary buds sprouting at the base should be removed in time to avoid the consumption of nutrients.

3. During the growth period, the soil should be kept moist. In summer, in addition to sufficient watering, it is also necessary to frequently spray water on the leaves and ground to increase humidity and cool down.

4. During the growth period, apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 10 days until the flowering period. After the flower buds color, it is necessary to spray 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves. During the flowering period, the number of fertilizations should be reduced, and phosphate fertilizer should be applied after autumn.

5. After slow seedling, it should be placed in a sunny, well-ventilated place for maintenance, and the direction of the potted flower should be turned frequently. When the temperature exceeds 25°C, the leaves will wither; the room temperature should be kept between 10 and 15°C.

6. When planting, move the plant to a cooler place at 7~8°C for maintenance, which can extend the flowering period.

The flowering period of cineraria

General flowers bloom in spring and summer, but cineraria is different from these flowers. Its flowering season is winter. During the Lunar New Year, cineraria is quite popular in flower markets. Beautiful bouquets of large and small flowers are adorned with some cinerarias. Bringing bright and vivid colors and embellishment to combined bouquets, it is simply beautiful.

Post-treatment of cineraria leaves

When the beautiful flowers also wither, cineraria is no exception. But do not throw it away as useless waste. Do a simple treatment. Not only can it bloom again next year, but you can also want to harvest some new cinerarias.

Collecting seeds

After the cineraria flowers wither, the seeds formally take the stage, and then slowly enter the maturity period. At this time, if the owner plans to cultivate a few seedlings in the coming year, he can collect some cineraria seeds and plant them when the climate is suitable.

Pruning

The main branches of the cineraria have already bloomed and will slowly wither. At this time, the focus of protection is to cut off the dry branches and leaves. Remember, there is no need to cut everything. Because the branches are hollow, water. A large loss will cause excessive damage to the cineraria plant.

Cuttings

When the large branches are cut off, the small branches will have more room to grow, so when the branches grow one heart and two leaves, they can be used as cuttings. Transplanting new cinerarias is really easy.
