The Medinilla has an elegant plant shape, with broad and rugged gray-green leaves and drooping pink inflorescences. It is the most luxurious and beautiful of the flowers in the Melastomataceae family. Potted Medinilla is most suitable for display in hotels, halls, shopping mall display windows, and villa living rooms.

How to deal with yellowing leaves on the Medinilla

1. Light

Indoor-grown Medinilla flowers are different from those growing wild, so the methods cannot be the same. Indoor-grown Medinilla flowers yellow partly due to the plant's own reasons and partly due to home cultivation, so they do not need long periods of light; otherwise the leaves will also turn yellow. So if growing indoors, you do not have to place it in a spot with long hours of light; pay attention to shading. Then it is best to give it ventilation two fixed days a week by placing it in the open air.

2. Ventilation

As mentioned above, the Medinilla should be placed in a spot with partial sun, but at the same time do not forget that in such a spot it also needs good ventilation. If placed in a damp spot with poor ventilation, the leaves of the Medinilla will also easily turn yellow. With good ventilation, it will have fewer pests or diseases, and the flowers will grow better.

3. Watering

When watering the Medinilla normally, be sure to pay attention and not water too much; just soak the soil. If there is too much water, it cannot absorb it and it will sit in the soil. Over time, not only will the roots rot, but the leaves will also turn yellow. If you cannot judge the watering amount well, choose a flower pot with good drainage so the excess water flows right out and will not sit inside.

4. Fertilizing

The Medinilla should be fertilized at least twice a year, once in the first half of the year and once in the second half. If fertilizing is too little and nutrients are insufficient, this will first show on the leaves. When fertilizing, if you are not clear about how to fertilize for the flowers' benefit, you can search online or ask the owner of a flower shop. The amount of fertilizer should be neither too much nor too little, otherwise it can cause the flower's death.

The factors above are basically the main reasons that cause the leaves of the Medinilla to turn yellow. Of course, some minor reasons cannot be ignored either, such as loosening the soil, repotting, and paying attention to protection against high temperatures and cold waves in different seasons; these are all very important. After all, a bad result often has many causes behind it. So everyone should not look down on small matters like growing flowers; they often also reveal your care and patience.
